Whatever.
I think one explanation was that it was a sign of respect for Inhumans who had their faces changed by Terrigenesis. I don't think that fits all the facts, though.
From what I've seen in other reports, Soule is actually happy that his creations are appearing on the show. They've reported NuHumans, but it might be Auran instead.
Oh, I'm sure somebody came up with an explanation for the masks after the fact...which was only necessary because they made no sense in the first place.
The thing is, Medusa was introduced as a Frightful Four member first, just another masked supervillain, and then about a year later, they had Gorgon come hunting for her and revealed that she was an amnesiac Inhuman. So the masked look predated the Inhuman concept itself.
Then again, they're Jack Kirby characters, so it's pretty much a given that they'd all have some kind of weird headgear.
IIRC, of the Royals, only Crystal and Triton were maskless.
Although Crystal had that weird black hairband thingy, or whatever it was.

This volume would also give you the first appearances of Galactus and the Silver Surfer.
Fox does suck, Singer does suck and that outfit is probably just Inhuman casual wear rather than Black Bolt's normal outfit.
MCU has earned benefit of the doubt, so we have to wait and see.
And yes, the rights should go back to MCU.
Right. The Inhumans had a mask because the Frightful Four generally did.
The original Fantastic Four stories are great if you're fine with silver age comics. It's Lee and Kirby at their height. The story goes first appearance of Inhumans, Galactus, and Black Panther almost back to back to back.
If you want something modern, the Paul Jenkins Inhumans series from 1998 or so is a great introduction. Charles Soule's Inhuman and Uncanny Inhumans runs are very good too.

The stories couldn't make up their mind as to whether or not he really was a Dog or if he was an Inhuman who got mutated by the terrigen into a more bestial creature, and he just didn't speak much anymore.
Isn't there a retcon that says he started off human as well but came out of the transformation like that?

Looking at the video, I see Crystal is actually sporting the black band in her hair.
Marvel.com has posted a cast/character guide with desctiptions of all of the main characters, which once again specifically describes their powers and describes Lockjaw as a 2000lb dog and their actors. Making it pretty damn clear to anyone who's unbiased and actually paying attention that those things will be a part of the show. I like how they have Lockjaw as playing himself. I wonder if that'll actually be included in the credits that way?
More specifically, there's a story in Thing issue #3 where Quicksilver finds out his daughter, Luna, has no mutant powers. He's upset by this and decides to expose her to Terrigen despite Crystal's desires to the contrary because you have no idea how Luna will turn out. Pietro says he'll love his daughter no matter what, which prompts Lockjaw to say "even if she comes out looking like me?"
Apparently, Peter Allen David didn't like this story, so he retconned it to be a practical joke played by Karnak and Gorgon (they hid a speaker on Lockjaw so he could "speak"). That was the last word on the subject, but it hasn't necessarily satisfied everyone.
