The inevitable Obama movie.

Will Smith as Obama walks up to Bush, while putting on his shades.

"You know what the difference is between you and me? I make this look good."

So mib 3 was all about Obama going back in time to save bush jr

Names change of course to protect their identities

;)

Benedict Cumberbatch.

Excellent!!!

Lennix would be great, but I honestly can't see him getting anything other than the TV version, which if it's on HBO, will be better than the theatrical feature starring Will Smith, who can't act for shit. He is charismatic, though.

"Mr. President, we have located Osama Bin Laden."

"Aw, HELLS NO!!!"

"Mr. President, we have killed Osama Bin Laden."

"DAYUM!!!"

Will Smith has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role twice -- for Ali in 2001, and for The Pursuit of Happyness in 2006. The man can act.

He's also President Obama's personal choice to play him in a hypothetical biopic.

Yeah, people who say Will Smith can't act probably haven't seen him in a dramatic role.

Yeah. Assuming that Will Smith's range is restricted to the Action Hero persona he adopts in Independence Day and the Men in Black trilogy is the equivalent of assuming the only role Tom Hanks knows how to play is Forrest Gump.

There's not even 10 years between Will Smith and Obama. He could totally play him.

Plus Will Smith mentioned hoping to play him in a movie back when Obama was running for president if he won so I'm taking this as a campaign promise.

Will Smith may be a good actor, but not all good actors are able to inhabit very different characters. And I just don't see Smith pulling off a Barack.

Anyhow, I have a gut feeling that, seeing as how in our youtube age we've already seen Barack face most of his biggest personal moments/challenges, the first major Obama biopic will be a "Barack Begins"-type movie, focusing on his 20s, as chronicled in David Maraniss' new book Barack Obama: The Story. So, a young unknown/little-known actor of roughly that age'd be best.

Smith did a great job in I Am Legend from a dramatic POV. He can act, without a doubt. But I, too, think Lennix would be the superior choice for the role as Obama if it ever came up.

Studio-wise though, Will Smith will be the choice, no question. However ideal Lennix may be, he has nowhere near the box-office draw Will Smith has. Right or wrong, that's going to be what trumps everything when it comes to casting the film.

Benedict Cumberbatch.

There isn't blackface dark enough to make that guy the right color. :rommie:

But, in line with the vampires comment above, if we could get Cumberbund to play a certain genetically engineered superman, I think we have a worthy foe for Obama.

Does anybody else think of Jack Webb when they see Obama? Neither one seems to be allowed to show extreme emotion, and the similarity goes way beyond the ears.

"Cumberbund"...

As for Obama, I don't think of Jack Webb, I think of Frank Drebin.

This is not an insult, BTW. :) I mean the Drebin from Police Squad! - the one who was actually serious and good at his job. Not the bumbling idiot he turned into in the Naked Gun films (completely destroying the entire POINT of Drebin in the first place, which was to be the straight man, oblivious to the hilarity going on around him).

Some website called him Bandersnatch Cumberbund. I'm not sure if it was intentional or just a spellcheck gone horribly wrong. I've also seen it telescoped to Cumbersnatch, though that sounds too rude for my tastes. :p
