The Inevitability of the Borg?

Status
Not open for further replies.
The Borg like the Federation travel space looking for other species to "join" them. It would stand to reason that they'd travel space more after the war to assimilate more species to make up for the numbers they lost. Just like I'm sure after the Dominion war, Starfleet is looking for new recuits to make up their lost numbers. Why build space fairing ships if you aren't going to fly thru space in them?

People of all races on Earth don't stay within the countries of their origin. If so, places like America & New Zealand wouldn't be colonized.

Starfleet & the Borg are equally the same in their goals, to seek out new life and new civilizations. They are both the same, just opposite sides of the same coin.

Oh, I've not questionning their INTENT to do what you're saying. What I'm questionning is their AVAILABLE RESOURCES after being in a devastating war. There would normally be some years of rebuilding to get back to where they were before they could start expanding past the point they were at before the war.
They all ready told us that when the Borg assimilate a civilzation, they assimilate their resources as well.

Remember in "BOBW" the entire city was gone?

but also don't forget about the sheer number of the borg. if they were in a war they could have sent off two or three ships to assimilate more people and quickly added millions of new drones and ships.

..or the fact the transwarp hubs could transport Borg Cubes to any part of the galaxy to aquire whatever they needed.

Besides, it's not like nobody has ever tried to wipe the Borg out before.
As long as one drone survives, the Borg will always return.

yep, I think we're underestimating just how many ships and drones they realy had and how easily they can be replaced

I agree that the bigger picture is not being seen.

Voyager is unimportant to the Borg considering the entire Alpha Quaderent has more to offer. One ship is irrelevant compared to the thousands of worlds waiting to be assimilated. The Borg were just toying with Voyager by allowing them to live.

well with Voyager, the Queen did say that she had a special interest in Seven

She would have been her spy in the Alpha Quad.

Seven is still somewhat linked to the collective. The Queen knew, just like we all did Seven would be given access to Starfleet headquarters during her debriefing on the Borg. The Borg would gain vital information thru Seven.

That's what I'm here for.

It's only 'overusing' the Borg if you're a whiny-know-it-all current generation Trekker who thinks that they could write a better episode, but if you put a gun to their head, they couldn't do it, so you'd have to shoot. The constant whining by so-called fans about how there was too much Borg only shows the validity of my sig (see below for a reminder).

Well done for you and your sig, isn't there something to be said for attacking the message and not the messenger. What you've said addresses in no way criticisms of the use of these particular characters and simply shows us your disdain for certain other people. Shouldn't you keep all of that for TNZ?

But he's right.

The Borg eps. brought in ratings, ratings that Voyager desprately needed to stay on the air. If we love Voyager the way we say we do, then we should understand that fact and stop complaining about what kept the show on for us to watch.

We complained there wasn't enough internal conflict on the show, they gave us Seven which gave us that and we still bitch. We complained how the ship always looked perfect, they gave us "YOH" and showed the ship a total loss and we still continued to bitch. We asked why isn't Voyager picking up others besides Neelix along the way, they gave us the Borg kids & the Equinox crew and we still bitched. They gave us whatever we asked for to please us as fans & viewers and we showed no gratitude at all toward B&B over it.

We're now bitching how the Borg are overused and yet many still can't figure how how & why the Borg function the way they do. So we are in a way to blame because we don't listen to what's being told to us within the program.

probably not long, if they were devastated in a war they might resort to assimilating species they didn't want before just to get their numbers back up. And who knows, it's also possible that if they realy were devastated in a war that they might even resort to cloning or impregnating drones.

Okay guys. EVERYONE has the right to an opinion and everyone has the right to complain or not complain whether you think they do or not. As long as there is no trolling, flaming or spamming we can all discuss whatever we want.

Given the steady decline in quality over the last three seasons, an early demise for the show might have been the preferable option. I don't feel grateful for getting mediocrity.

I beg to differ, the show only got better with each passing season!!!!!!!!!!!

Frankly, I don't see Voyager as any better or any worse than TNG, who also had strong 4&5th season but lackluster 6&7. Plus, I don't feel if you love a show, you wouldn't enjoy seeing an early demise.

It's just my personal opinion, just like anyone else has the right to debate it.
