The Ice Cave Coincidence

Delta Vega is a very common sounding name; as I said, there are at least two Las Vegases in the U.S. There are probably more in Latin America or Spain.

It's a common name, like Delta Vega. No biggie. Clearly there are at least two Delta Vegas. Spock and Kirk and Scotty all stood on the one in the Vulcan system. It's there. We saw it.

Yep..we saw it on the screen which makes it fine with me. But more important? Millions of others, non fans, saw it as well and could hardlly care-a-less if there had ever been a Delta Vega before..and wasn't the point of the movie...

You cant please everyone, is my motto. But if you make tons of money doing it, then you did your job. I noticed that JJ will be back for the next movie too!!

Meh, maybe so. But all things considered I think even Orci himself hinted that the scene of Spock "seeing" Vulcan die was an image or projection of some sort and not meant to be taken literally as being RIGHT there within eyeshot.

This is in a post above, but here it is again:

'According to writer Roberto Orci, the part of the mind meld sequence in which Prime Spock sees the destruction of Vulcan was meant to be "as impressionistic for a general audience." The idea was that Spock saw the planet's destruction through "a telescope or some other type of measuring device," but showing it that way on-screen "isn't very cinematic." However, Orci himself prefers to think of Delta Vega as being in close orbit of Vulcan.'

Thanks a lot. If you go to the TOS board to "What's your favorite of my favorites, a number of people came up with Sp'Elvis hits from the 23rd c. Right now he's doing "Return to Sender" (special V'GER remix by DJ Ilia).

there are at least three nashville's that i know of in the united states.

heck i have even made jokes that the two different planets were named delta vega summer and winter to tell them apart.

and spock wouldnt need a telescope.
we know that in the period nero is from they have the means to project images with out seemingly a recieving device(or at least an obvious one) a great distance depending on the culture.

i could see nero leaving behind something that would project the destruction of vulcan to where spock would see.

projecting it in the sky would allow it to be seen over a greater distance.

I shoud have told you one of Jeri's Sp'Elvis tunes: "Viva Delta Vega." More fitting for this thread!

(When released as a single it had two versions of the same tune. One was a lot cooler than the other. -rim shot-)

I'm way more confused than before seeing this thread.

What is Delta Vega and why is it so close to Vulcan? Please reference your evidence for believing as you do.
Viva Delta Vega! Viva Delta vega!
Viva, viva Del-ta Veg-ga!

Viva Delta Vega, yes! I must say I'm not confused no mo'. On Delta Vega and on what canon prohibits (thanks to Therin of Andor).
