The Holiday Decor Thread!

So, it's that time of year when everyone busts out the holiday decorations: trees, candles, lights, wreaths, Menorahs, Santas, you name it. Show us your holiday spirit!

I freaking LOVE the holidays and break out all my holiday decorations right after Thanksgiving.

So, here's some of the highlights, geek-style.
My friend got me a little tree to put my Doctor Who decorations on...but I think I might have over-done it. I need a bigger tree.

Put up the old Star Trek Wreath, which is starting to really show its age. I might need to redo it at some point.

My little tree

Latest edition to my holiday collection: this adorable Jim Shore figure. My best pal sent it to me. Junior approved.

I will be putting up my tree either later today or tomorrow. I will post pictures of it.

I really like the Tardis tree.

We are doing it latter than we had done since moving up here. We used to get the tree on or around thanksgiving. Since Dad had a knee surgery last week, we put it off. WE are getting the tree next week (11th or so). I got rid of a couple stuff last summer when prepping for a possible move (either Texas or across town. I guess we will go and buy new stuff. The one thing we got rid of was the icicle lights I used to put up for the sliding doors. I wasn't a fan of that thing.

Lovely decor. :techman: I might set up Xmas tomorrow.

My Season of Reason Tree, with the birthday boy, Sir Isaac Newton, on top of tree and other famous thinkers in its branches.

I still have to fine tune the decorations, and add chocolate coins (in honour of the time Newton spend as Master of the Royal Mint).

^Love it! I love Little Thinkers dolls.

Of course, in my house, the chocolate coins would all be eaten long before they ever made it to the tree. ;)

That is why the chocolate coins won't go into the tree until just before Christmas. Last year I had to buy them twice because I ate the first lot.

Lovely cat. :)

Are those TARDISes the "TARDIS lights" sold by ThinkGeek?

And how long does your cat allow your trees to remain un-redecorated?

That's why I don't put up trees anymore. My younger cat sees stuff like that, thinks, "Oh, cool, Mom got me a new toy" and swats it across the room.

Where did you get these? I see Carl Sagan there! :)

The tree needs an apple pie ornament ("If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the Universe.").

I love the TARDIS tree! You'll find a selfmade gingerbread TARDIS in my decorations as well. No Star Trek things yet, as I only became a fan some months ago and haven't stocked up yet.

It's always interesting to see decorations from different countries, although I must admit that I am sometimes amused about the possibilities being sold - would someone really put hamburgers or pizza pieces onto their tree?

In Germany it's more wood decorations. I don't have a tree as I spend Christmas with my parents and it is customary that it first gets decorated on the Holy Eve.

This following angel and miner I once painted myself as a child (need to put candles in yet):

Also the little smoking house I built at school:

A friend bought those for me last year. I don't remember if it was from ThinkGeek or Amazon.

Junior used to do it when we first got him; now he really doesn't seem interested. I just used to yell at him and put him out of the room when he used to attack the ornaments and swat them around the room. I also put all the plastic and felt ones on the bottom half, so even if he did do it, nothing would break. So far, he doesn't even seem interested in the tree all that much.

We need a like button for this tree. And for Junior too.

I wanted a Christmas Tree this year, but i didn't want to put up a tree this year...
So i found this wooden cut-out tree and added some coloured LED lights, easy and quick...
Here it is with my "nativity" scene:

Already posted these in the Action Figure thread, but here is my annual doll tree:

As usual, the tree is covered mostly with little dolls and toys, mostly mini American Girls. Some of my big American Girls are scattered around with other Christmas toys:

I bought some new toys for Christmas displays this year, including a mini doll camper that I decorated with lights and mini Christmas trees and food:

Finally, Julie and Ivy are watching a Christmas "program" on the little T.V.! I have a doll sized jukebox, too.

My Trek-Who-Mas tree isn't finished yet. I'll post photos when it's done.

Yeah, I forgot to put them out last year. Only place I could find was under the tree next to the table!

Yeah, and I was lucky to find it, and at the price I did. I think the set was originally $125 and I got it for $50. It's really supposed to be child-sized, but it was perfect for the American Girls!

I'm most impressed with my cat this year. He hasn't knocked anything over yet. :p

I had a little tea set that size. It was originally my mother's, so from the 1920s. Now you've got me sort of wishing I still had it, so my AG Rebecca Rubin could enjoy it. :)
