The Historian's Note For Cutting Ties

This story unfolds concurrent with the events chronicled over the course of the first four New Frontier novels, concluding during the period between Fire on High and Martyr, roughly around the end of Deep Space Nine's fourth season.

There seem to be a couple errors there. I'm guessing it should be:

This story unfolds concurrent with the events chronicled over the course of the first four New Frontier novels, concluding during the period between Martyr and Fire on High, roughly around the end of Deep Space Nine's fifth season.

Because, as given, the Historian's Note doesn't make sense.

The word "roughly" is probably enough for most readers. More avid timeline connisseurs will already have the most recent edition of the Timeliners' Star Trek Timeline by their side.

Though, the Historian's Note as written will make readers think it takes place "roughly" around the end of the wrong season since "between Martyr and Fire on High"(as I mentioned, the Historian's Note has it reversed for some reasonmost likely means 2373 which would be DS9's fifth season, not fourth season.

I do have to wonder how they managed to end up putting "between Fire on High and Martyr" when Martyr comes before Fire on High. What a dumb mistake. There's also the fact that it says that "this story unfolds concurrent with the events chronicled over the course of the first four New Frontier novels" and those four novels all take place in 2373, so there's no way the story could take place "roughly around the end of Deep Space Nine's fourth season" since DS9's fouth season is 2372.

Well, it's a variation from the normal phrasing, but not technically a mistake. It does still come between those two tales, regardless of which order you list them in. "Between" isn't an intrinsically directional word.

I think that pretty much describes about 90% of the people reading this board.

Most people who disagree with what I just said will think I underestimated the percentage.:rommie:
