''The High Ground'' - Line-by-Line

Hello, welcome!

We recently completed our "Where No One Has Gone Before" Line-by-Line right here in the TNG Forum!

After each completed thread, we're randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Vanyel! And Vanyel has chosen "The High Ground" to be our next Line-by-Line challenge!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

Our "rule" is that if the episode has a "To Be Continued..." on the end, it is done in a single thread, but if it's just an arc of related episodes, each episode is a separate thread.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread, our distinguished leaders, LeadHead or CoveTom (or if they take too long for Mr. ADHD here....) will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do.

Okay, lets see if we can figure out if George Washington was a military general or a terrorist.....

Captain's log, Stardate 43510.7. The Enterprise has put in at Rutia Four to deliver medical supplies following an outbreak of violent protests. Although non-aligned, the planet has enjoyed a long trading relationship with the Federation. Now, a generation of peace has ended with terrorist attacks by Ansata separatists, who are demanding autonomy and self-determination for their homeland on the western continent. Recreational shore leave has been prohibited and all away teams have been beaming down armed.

 

[Vanyel]

Plaza:
Dr. Crusher and Worf are drinking:
Data: We have only a few minutes before our next meeting, Doctor.

 

[Leandar]

Beverly: It's all right. We're finished. Waiter?
(Big explosion in the plaza. Screams, injured passers by, alarms going off. Beverly rushes to help)

 

[Vanyel]

Worf: Doctor!

 

[Orac]

[Plaza]

Policeman: Keep back!

 

[Vanyel]

Crusher: Put that away. I'm a doctor. (to an injured woman) Just lie still. Try not to move. Lieutenant Worf, I need some bandages, disinfectant, something with alcohol in it.

 

[Orac]

Worf: Doctor, it is not safe.

 

[Vanyel]

Crusher: That's an order, Lieutenant. (She attends to the next injured person) Don't be afraid. There's a lot of bleeding, but it's not as bad as it looks.

 

[Alienesse]

POLICEMAN: The Klingon's right. These Ansata, they're madmen. There could be another bomb. (to bystanders) Clear this area. Everyone out of the plaza.

 

[Vanyel]

Data: Doctor, I believe it would be prudent to return to the Enterprise. There are physicians on this planet.

 

[Alienesse]

CRUSHER: Who are not here. I am.

 

[Vanyel]

Worf: Doctor.
(He gives her some cloth and alcohol)

 

[Alienesse]

CRUSHER: Thank you.
(The waiter puts a bottle down too)
CRUSHER: Thank you.

 

[Vanyel]

Katik: Not at all, Doctor.

 

[Alienesse]

DATA: Captain, there has been an incident.

[Bridge]

DATA [OC]: A bomb has been detonated by Ansata terrorists.

 

[Vanyel]

Picard: Your security status?

 

[Alienesse]

DATA [OC]: Vulnerable, sir.

 

[Vanyel]

Picard: Transporter room three, lock onto the away team, prepare to beam them back.

 

[Alienesse]

CREWMAN [OC]: Yes, Captain.
