First post, a link to another site with no other points of discussion included. OP then writes another post right after with a sexist drive-by comment.

This thread is off to a wonderful start. I'm sure it's not going to be locked by the end of the day. Note the sarcasm.

EDIT: I just realized this was posted in GTD despite being exclusively about TOS. Batting a thousand!

dunno how young that woman writer is when she did that article but come on.

us older Star Trek fans damn well know and accepted the fact that old Star Trek has always been a bit sexist towards women and cheesy.

Even the first season or two of Next Generation was pretty bad at being sexist etc

Yes, and?

Excuse me but did you even bother to go to the link screenrant to read the whole article?

and yes a woman did write that article and my opinion, she must be young to disocover that an old sci fi show from the 1960s was a little racist and sexist.

Look at Star Trek Next Generation. first two seasons were pretty bad also.

No I did not. It's up to you to provide more discussion other than [LINK] "A dumb woman wrote this."

if a guy wrote that article about the old Star Trek show, he wouldnt be pissing and moaning about how the show was being a little racist and sexist.

If you let a young woman write an article for an old sci fi show or any old from 50 years ago, you damn well know she would start brining up the whole misogny, sexist attitudes etc

since im the only person that actually read the whole article, i might as well type the whole list of things that was mentioend in the damn artcle

10. the "awful" costumes
9. the treatment of Spock going too far.
8. "Far too many" episodes having misogyny and sexism. One of the most difficult aspects of watching Star Trek: The Original Series today is the rampant and obvious sexism. This is not so much a critique of the show itself, as it tried to be progressive in its own way, but more an acknowledgment of the problematic views about women that were widespread at the time. From historian Marla McGivers' (Madelyn Rhue) instant infatuation with Khan (Ricardo Montalban) in "Space Seed" to the portrayal of Harry Mudd's (Roger C. Carmel) former wife in "I, Mudd" to pretty much everything in "Turnabout Intruder," the sexism in Star Trek crops up in all three seasons. While this clearly illustrates the show as a product of its time, it's still jarring to hear even the ever-logical Spock reduce women to inaccurate stereotypes.

7. the "bad" Klingon makeup. what did she expect? it was the 1960s back then

6. Uhura who rarely got to do anything
5. the dangerous aliens looking too silly
4. the acting being over the top
3. the hand to hand combat looking ridiculous
2. Kirk making too many mistakes as Captain
1. some episodes are truly terrible

There, you happy now? I just had to type the whole damn list for you because you were too lazy to go to screenrant to read the article yourself

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Posting a link without a discussion topic is a bad start. Then it goes downhill from there.

This should be in TOS but it’s so problematic I’m not going to bother moving it.

Also, please use the multi-quote function instead of posting so many times in a row.

Closing.
