The Global Football Thread

Desperate for all our new players to be available. Confident things will improve.

Brewster looks quality and Morris already feels like a Martin/Howard level striker. Thought Zetterstrom had really done himself an injury though, very brave save.

Yeah. Not convinced though by Baath and Sanderson, need Langas ASAP. Early days though. Travis deal apparently done

I thought Sanderson looked ok. Clearly both have been bought in as squad players and as defenders they're still learning how to play together. Feels v much like an extended pre season. Hopefully after the international break we'll look better

It's very early days but maybe Spurs have finally found the right manager?

Or maybe Pep's lost his mojo?

Spurs are just City's bogey team. Not that I'm complaining. :D

I do think Frank became a bit underrated staying at a "small club" like Brentford for so long, and now he's getting his chance to show what he can do on a bigger stage. I just hope the sporting directors can bring in a little more help at attacking midfield before the transfer window shuts. But aside from that, I am buzzing at the team's start to the season, including their Super Cup loss where they still played great.

That penalty shootout was insane! I can't remember the last one I saw where not only did both keepers end up taking penalties but both scored!

I thought Amorim hunkering down and not even watching the penalties was just atrocious. Terrible management decision. Reminds me of Ince sitting with his back to the England penalties in '96. One reason I've never castigated Southgate because at least he had the balls to take one, various other big players chickened out.

I don't see how Utd keep faith with Amorim, tactical inflexibility and seemingly terrible man management skills. I'm not sure what it is he's supposed to be shit hot at? Trouble is they've backed him so heavily, and even sacked Dan Ashworth in part it seems because he argued against Amorim and wanted either Howe or Frank!

Could a big team get relegated? I don't know, Utd were awful last year but you have to think that with fewer games this year and men like Cunha and Mbeumo who will score a decent amount of goals that they can't quite be as bad as last year. Be wonderful to see obviously!

Well last year it was only because the promoted teams fared so badly and went back down again,Spurs,United and West Ham were goners…(are the irons a big team?)
This year although it is still ridiculously early yet, teams can’t afford any complacency.

West Ham got relegated on 42 (ish) point's one season.

I don't really class them as a big team like Man United etc just because they have spent time in the Championship in the recent past, same as Leeds or even Newcastle

To me a big team might be United, Man City if the Pl ever get round to revealing the outcome of the charges against them, Everton, Spurs..They are the 4 I could see although Spurs look like they might have their shit together

I don't see Man Utd sucking to the extent that they get relegated, I think they will improve this season, albeit they won't be contending for trophies. On the other hand, if they fail to beat Burnley (or end up getting beaten), I might have to wonder.

Maybe if the officials didn't turn up today having already decided on a united win burnley may have done better

“Fergie time “etc.;)

It’s not going to be the usual ‘scrap’ at the bottom of the league this year. With the way football is gone it would be more accurate to call it a knife fight.
