What a run. A far cry from the level of the team when I first watched them 20 years ago back in Euro 2005.

Well done to the winners! Yeah i am biased

Abysmal Hammers today.
Total clearout needed both management and owners…
Express elevator to the Championship.

Early days but I do fear a little for West Ham this season (And Brentford and Wolves) and maybe Sunderland might be a surprise package.

Several days ago Harry Kane missed his first penalty for years..... It was a test match and it didn't matter as he scored nonetheless. Supercup went to Bayern and Woltemade stays in Stuttgart for all what it's worth.

Hats off to the Black cats. The game needs strong clubs from north of the Watford gap.
Brentford have a new Irish manager so I hope he finds his feet soon.
Re.West ham
Fixture’s don’t look too promising either and it’s so easy to settle at the bottom of the table.A result against Chelsea (yeah right) would be a godsend.
A board and manager totally out of touch with the realities of 21st century football.
Worrying times.

Is Potter out of touch with 21st century football? I'm not saying he's perfect but from a coaching perspective he always struck me as a modern manager, the problem he has is that he takes time to implement his changes. Look at when he took over Brighton, initially he didn't do much better than Hughton, but over time the team developed significantly...or maybe he was real lucky with player recruitment?

Brentford are really going to struggle. Losing so many players and your totem of a manager and replacing him with someone severely lacking in experience does not bode well.

It's still really early days though, but good starts from Sunderland and Leeds. I'm sticking to my prediction that at least one of the promoted clubs will stay up this season.

I know it's easier as an outsider but never get why West Ham got rid of Moyes twice. He had a good amount of success, he appears now to be doing OK at Everton.

One thinks if Man United had shown more patience with him they might not be in the appalling position they are now.(For them)

Potter could be one of those who has a period of relative success and looks destined for good things but can't replicate elsewhere (Paul Jewell anyone?)

West Ham fans, and they're not alone in this, have a desire for exciting football, and Moyes is something more of a pragmatist. I feel he didn't get the kudos he deserved as their manager though, even after delivering their first major trophy in decades and, I just discovered, having the highest win ratio of any of West Ham's permanent managers!

Again this is absolutely not aimed at West Ham fans uniquely, but some fans really don't know when they're well off.

Potter should never have taken the Chelsea job, the epitome of a poisoned chalice at the time! It might have ruined him. If he winds up getting the chop from West Ham it'll be interesting to see where, if anywhere, he rocks up next.

Chelsea has been a poisoned chalice for many a manager. I still think Lampard should have stayed at Derby for a couple more seasons to get more experience. I do get the massive draw Chelsea was for him but had he been successful at Derby the Chelsea job would have come along at some point.

I thought he'd missed his chance although to be fair hes doing ok at Coventry.

Potter doesn’t impress me at all.
Totally agree that Moyes got shafted.
Fans who have what we call here notions above their station by which I mean they demand champagne football from what is essentially a mid- table(if only) team.
An ownership that is…cheap and a scouting team whose unerring talent for finding duds is unequaled.
I’ll shut up now and batten down for the season ahead.

Happens all the time, clubs believe they should be better than they are. Didn't pulis perform miracles for Stoke years ago only to be turned out and then the club went into free fall.

Likewise Birmingham with John Eustace, sacked to bring in Rooney while in the top 6, end up relegated.

Leicester last season sacked Cooper while outside the bottom 3, appoint Van Nistlerooy, barely pick up any points from that point on and get relegated.

All too predictable (though even I didn't expect things to happen quite this quickly!)

I never believed there wasn't more to it when marinakis confronted him on the pitch at the end of the season, they claim it was concern over the injury but it looked so much more than that

If Forest do lose him they are losing a really good manager,

Yes it did. You only have to look at how many managers Olympiacos have had since Marinakis has been owner to see that, if anything, he's been quite restrained when it comes to pulling the trigger on managers at Forest. You never know, fan power got him to back down (the first time) with Cooper so maybe that can happen again?

I bet Gibbs-White really wishes he'd gone to Spurs now.
