The Gilmore Girls Revival

The character growth of season 7 was thrown out because the Wife / Husband team that wrote seasons 1-6 of the show have never even watched season 7!

They wanted the show to end with an eight season, which would have ended exactly the same. Which is why at 32 it seems stupid, but it was meant for Rory at 22-23. But still the plot line with Logan was just really bad.

And Sookie wasn't really asked to come back until the very last minute. Hell they never even bother to ask Liz, Luke's site, to come back. She isn't a major star but was a huge part of the later seasons.

And the more I think about it was Emily....

Not going to be at her own daughters wedding? After years of complaining she seemed to be fine missing it on Nantucket, or was she just going to fly in in the morning? Also Nantucket on November 5-6th might not be the warmest, looked very summery.

So, despite Rory being more successful than probably 95% of 32-year-olds in the world, she's "bad" because she likes sex?

I see.

Also, it couldn't have ended any other way. Anyone who doesn't get that never really got the show.

Get off your high horse.

It's like saying "How I met Your Mother" couldn't have ended any other way. Yeah, yeah it could have.

I have no issue with Rory liking sex, I have an issue with throwing out growth Rory had in the great season 7 so the creators can still end it their way. This was supposed to be the ending when she was 22-23, not 32. Also you think maybe Rory would have realized after Dean not to screw around with exes in serious relationships. Also at 32 I think she would be smart enough to be o the pill and make the guy wear a condom.

It was foreshadowed all four episodes, but still really didn't fit into the Rory we knew in seasons 1-4 and seven. And I think that's my problem with seasons 5-6, people acted weird, the growth didn't seem nature. That's what happened here, she didn't feel like a nature continuation of her character. And from the interview the main cast did on The Today Show the other day they seem to think it came out of left field too.

Yeah....it's not the liking sex in and of itself that's the issue. Most 'successful' 32-year-olds have sex within the confines of a serious relationship, whether marriage or dating. They don't have a 'what happens in vegas' affair with an engaged man, especially when said 32-year-old already knows the emotional consequences of being 'the other woman' and already turned down her chance at a real relationship with him. Between the whole Logan story and her keeping Paul on the hook for over 2 years and throughout the whole revival it's almost like Rory learned NOTHING from her experiences with Dean and Jess.

I heard a theory that if they had gotten to write the last season of the main series those four words could have been Lorelei's instead of Rory's. That would have worked better to me. The cycle starts over again for Lorelei, except this time she'll have supportive parents and partner and daughter by her side. It would have been even more devastating for Rory at 22 to have said them I think. Plus it seemed really inconsiderate of Rory to spring that on the mother the day of her wedding to Luke, when it should be Lorelei's day to celebrate her own happiness for at change.

Yeah...it was a little sad and odd that Emily wasn't at the wedding, but she could be driving down later in the day for the 'public' wedding. Jess, Liz and TJ (and presumably their daughter Doula, btw no mention of her in the whole revival?) were all in town on Luke's side and could have been woken up too yet the only guests we see are Michel, Lane (why Lane of all people anyway?) and Rory. Weird.
Anyway, enough grumbling.
