The Games of October '08

^Clever!

I'm sure there might be some stores where you'd find the associate is against the idea and protests - but I'm not sure the grounds on which they could really protest. As long as what you're doing is in line with their return policy I'm not sure how they'd get out of it, lest they claim that the sale voids their return policy in favor of a more strict one.

In the forum folks are saying to get a "gift receipt" not sure what that is all about.

I can't believe I also forgot about Left 4 Dead, I have it preordered at Amazon.

I totally forgot about Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. It's a day 1 game for me. Right now I'm replaying SotN to get ready for it.

I actually have SotN on my PSP at the moment, I really hope Konami consider an HD Castlevania for PSN/XBLA. You've got to think they're looking at the success of MegaMan 9 and Bionic Commando with envoius eyes.
I was so disappointed when Konami announced that the Castlevania game for the Wii was a fighting game, not a SotN style game.

I don't care if it's for Xbox 360 or the Wii, I want a high quality 2D SotN style game. The DS games are great, but I want a new one on a console.

Now THAT's the way to do it.

A gift receipt is given to the recipient of a gift, allowing them to retutrn the gift if need be while not displaying any prices.

So you could return the "placeholder game" with the gift receipt, which wouldn't reveal that the "placeholder" was bought as part of a sale or promotion (there's no sale information on a gift receipt).

I'd say it's worth a try, so long as the "placeholder" game is one you're at least mildly interested in, in case you do end up having to keep it.

I'll probably pick up Fracture, Dead Space And Silent Hill.
I'll use Silent Hill as the place holder as I planned on getting it sometime anyway.

Now my gears are really turning.

Circuit City says they will price match any competitor's ad and will beat it by 10%
I wonder if it would cover an ad like this?

Second I have a $15.00 off a $100.00 coupon. HMMmmm.

I was never the biggest Castlevania fan, but I love the subtitles. Dawn of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night, Lament of Innocence, Harmony of Dissonance, Legacy of Darkness. That's just so awesome :techman:

Either way, I really enjoyed SotN when I played it on XBLA but I never finished it because I got stuck :(

Yeah SotN doesn't hold you hand like most games do, even when I replay it I sometimes have to look up where to go next at Gamefaqs.

Yeah, I always meant to go back to it...I just never did. I reckon if I have another crack at Castlevania game it'll be one of the DS editions. Probably Portrait of Ruin, because that has the best name ;)

Meanwhile, Penny Arcade's latest editorial is making me salivate for LittleBigPlanet. I must have this game now. I'll have my Sephiroth sackboy too, thanks :)

Definitely getting Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 (not sure why they're calling it that, considering it has nothing to do with the original whatsoever), Red Alert 3, and probably Saints' Row 2 (although I am a PC gamer, and the original never came out for PC :wtf:).

I wish there was some news on Half Life 2: Episode 3, as well as Deux Ex 3 (which was announced close to a year ago).

Anyone with a PS3 should check out the Valkyria Chronicles demo. It's only 580mb, and it's awesomeness.

^ I DLed it last week, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I've spent too much time getting all the Burnout Paradise trophies and playing Wipeout HD. ;)

You're in luck with Deux Ex 3. New info was just announced a few days ago.

As for HL2E3 I doubt we'll hear anything about that until after Left 4 Dead comes out.
Well, that's interesting, because it sounds like DX3 is actually a prequel, not a sequel. I guess it makes sense, considering the last Deux Ex game had about 5 alternate endings.

I have to say I'm disappointed that IGN has nothing on their site about this article. They're slacking off. :scream:

It's too bad that CnC: Tiberium has been canned... I was looking forward to that. :(

Anyways, I will probably pick up CnC: Red Alert 3 within the first week or so... wasn't a huge fan of the first two Red Alerts, but the more recent CnC's have been very good.

FYI, for those of you hoping to use the Toys R Us sale for future placeholders, some stores are ringing the games up differently now. So instead of $60, $60 and free, it'd be $40, $40, $40.
