The Future Of Trek IS Trek XI

From what I've read and seen regarding the new movie, I've come to the conclusion that Trek XI should be named Trekverse 2.0. Any of the thiongs we post here, DS9 movie, VOY movie, Starfleet Marines, Section 31, are all part of Trekverse 1.0 and therefore are merely wishlists never to be fulfilled. Even any possible spinoff such as an animated series will probably be set in the universe Abrams is establishing. So if Trek XI (or just Star Trek) is a success, would it not make sense to open up a new category and call it Future of Trek 2.0 and call this category something else different since the ideas in the "Future Of Trek" have no future?

Or we could just wait and see if the film is a success or not. I'll still be here if the franchise's future is slightly smaller in scale.

TNG 2.0 will feature the Galaxy-class Enterprise V, NCC-72971, commanded by Captain Jeanette-Marie Picard.

Heard it here first, folks...

I think the film will be a success. There really hasn't been too many bad comments on it except the long-waited trailer and any news on the film.

I'm hoping this film won't be a flop. But I'm not sure it can capture the mainstream's attention. Face it, Trek hasn't been cool in the public eye since probably First Contact, back in 96.

I hope I'm wrong, though.

I expect that the existing Trek continuity, including and especially the 24th century parts, will be adapted and revised to fit into the Abrams continuity - first in comics and novels and licensed products and eventually in movies and/or television.

It is unlikely that these revisions will be approached in any strategic or durably organized form, however, so the resulting inconsistencies will keep the Internet boiling away for the next decade or so.
