The Future of the Anthology Series

It was partly about Indiana Jones and partly a showcase of history for a country that tends to not learn about not only its own history but of the world in general. Talk to people in the United States and they would not know that there were battle of the Great War fought in Africa between German and Belgium forces. They might not even know what the Great War was for that matter since it was now a hundred years ago.

The tales of the 10 year old Jones were more forgettable than the teenage and year 20 year old Indy. 10 year old Jones would mostly just meet famous people while traveling with his parents (also is a wonder that Indiana doesn't have a lot of brothers and sisters considering just how much his father was chasing his mother around). Indy as a teen was off to wars and adventures from Mexico, Africa, Belgium-France, and later working during the Russian Revolution. Plus some stuff in the 20s near the end when they brought on Harrison Ford to do a little bit of Indy in the 1950s.

Both Tarkin and Leia looked CGI to me. Actors should have been hired for more than just voice over and motion.
Or they could have just written a script that didn't require several minutes of the impersonation of iconic characters or computer generated facsimiles on screen. That would be crazy talk though.

That works only if those characters shouldn't be there. If there are suppose to be there and the story doesn't make much sense for them to be missing, that you need to find a way to place them within the story.

Kind of hard to do a story about the Death Star in the days leading up to ANH that doesn't feature Tarkin.

What would the film be missing without Tarkin or by reserving his scenes to conversations over holo? Specifically.

How about an explanation of where the cadaverous looking bloke in ANH suddenly appeared from and why he's ordering Vader around? Without Tarkin in 'Rogue One' he would just sort of pop out of nowhere if you followed onto the next film, thus creating a plot hole. One way or another, he needs to be involved.

Don't get me wrong, I'm surprised they used him as much as they did but make no mistake, the only reason Krennic exists as a character is precisely because they can't have Peter Cushing present throughout. He is by design a Tarkin substitute.

Nothing stopping him from showing up in holos throughout the film, then after Jedda and the debacle at (whatever the purple spikey planet was) finally says he is going to take command of the Death Star. If you insist on him showing up at the climax (and I honestly found the Death Star appearing at Scarif excessive) he can order the destruction of the facility from the bridge of the Death Star as his first and only in-the-flesh appearance. Let the artists focus on really nailing that one scene, in lighting similar to ANH. The less he has to talk, the more they could focus on animating him to actually look like Peter Cushing and not some twitchy-faced knockoff.

YIJ did actually reveal that Indy had a younger sister who died (It's not really elaborated on, but apparentally it was possibly due to some defect)-maybe that's why he didn't have any other siblings. Plus as established in "Crusade" she died roughly around the time of the film's prologue.

I do remember rumors in the 90's that Indy IV would involve Indiana's brother as the villain (possibly played by Kevin Costner).
