I've long thought of Frasier as the closest thing to an American Britcom.I said it before, but no sitcom has ever made me laugh harder than Frasier has. For me, it's the number one best sitcom ever created.
Arrested Development, even though it's completely different, hit a lot of same buttons that Frasier hit for me.As I said, I think a few come close (Curb Your Enthusiasm and Becker come to mind), but none have been able to deliver the wit and sophistication that Frasier has.

It's clever. It doesn't go just for cheap obvious laughs and bathroom humour. The writing and acting is excellent. And the producers and writers were smart in having an excellent ensemble cast rather than relying solely on the main character to carry the show.I've long thought of Frasier as the closest thing to an American Britcom.
You know, I hear that a lot concerning the show. What is it that makes it so close to a British comedy?

Frasier doesn't play the audience for dummies. It expects the audience to be smart and to keep up. And it's not afraid to go for outright farce.
I guess it's more of a "feel" than something quantifiable. Frasier, despite its quantity of episodes (which vastly outweigh any Britcom), hits the Britcom marks for me.
