The Fountain DVD (question for anyone who bought it)

I just bought Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain on DVD today at Best Buy. After I opened the dvd case imagine my surprise when I saw this.

"Widescreen DVD screener. For Promotional Use Only. Not for Sale Or Retail"

This screener contains the widescreen feature only. Portions of the feature will turn black and white periodically for screening purposes. This will not occur in the final released version of the product."

What sucks is that the label also says the movie randomly turns black and white. Did anyone else get this on their copy of the dvd? Was it just mislabeled or am I just screwed?

Bring it back. It's a screw up at the packaging facility. I got a promo disc for Starsky and Hutch a few years ago and it does randomly go to black and white (it wasn't a mistake, in my case, just a gift from somebody who'd gotten a copy of the promo). Tell them to play it in their player to be sure but they should give you another copy in exchange.

I haven't ever had a similar thing happen, but I did mistakenly get the foolscreen version (didn't check the package close enough)

^ Uggh... that happened to me when I bought The Predator on DVD.

Then, it turned out that the theater I went to wouldn't accept the free AvP ticket that came with the DVD... so I had to pay for it.

Then, of course, it turned out that AvP sucked big donkey balls.

I've never felt so screwed by a single DVD purchase.

Am I far enough off topic yet?

I just checked my copy of The Fountain and it appears normal.

There's no such thing on my copy. However, aren't promo DVDs some kind of rarity? I'd be happy to call it my own actually.

I bought it a few weeks ago but I haven't gotten around to watching it. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it since I believe it's pass the return date.
