The following films are crap

One thing I find funny too is when I say something like "This Clone Wars movie looks like crap and two friends say it sucks and about 100 people on the internet have said it too," then I say " I'm not going to see it now." then people here may make statements to the effect that I'm closed-minded and prejudiced and so forth.
Really people, don't judge someone's entire character by the fact that they already chose not to see a cartoon okay? You don't know me.

You don't understand Nardpuncher. He specifically said "people who have actually seen [it]". Then everyone piled in anyway with their size tens. I would be bitter too.

Noone is saying you have to see clone wars, if you say, I am not seeing this film because I dont want to, that is your right.

If you say, I'm not going to see this film because its shit, thats not really something you are qualified to say.

If you see the film and then say its shit, fair enough.

But a film you havent seen is like Schrodeners cat, its not good or shit until you have seen it, until then it exists in both states.

Don't forget Trek XI.

I trust my friends. I also end up agreeing with Roger Ebert much of the time, Harry Knowles too.

I kinda liked Titanic. :o

I liked it when I went to see it in theatres. I remember walking out thinking it had great set pieces and that Kate Winslet was hot. Recommended it to friends, telling them that it was more than just a shlocky romance. Then when it came out on video and I rented it, I just stared in abject shock at the television as the movie muddled through seemingly interminable bad dialogue and pretentious filmmaking. "I liked this? What the fuck was I thinking?" I'm not sure what happened in between viewings to provoke such a radical shift; it's just a film that doesn't stand up to repeat viewings (and possibly I was so impressed by the actual sinking that I forgot about the preceding dullness).

If you're talking about that other thread of his, "everybody" consists of one person.

And it was only one bloody sentence, too, which I then apologized for. Let's not get all anal and blow things out of proportion, people, shall we?

If you say, I'm not going to see this film because its shit, thats not really something you are qualified to say.

No? I've never seen a giraffe in person, but I'm comfortable saying giraffes are tall. I've never been shot, but I'm comfortable saying being shot is a painful experience. I am capable of taking benefit and learning from the experiences of other. In this case, I have an overwhelming critical consensus averaging out to 'it's utter dreck', the opinions of several people whose tastes I've come to trust who have seen it and confirmed said consensus, and my own instincts/critical judgment on viewing the trailers and other promotional material, which aren't infallible but are very rarely wrong about what films I'd enjoy/not enjoy at the theatres. I'm not going to spend time and money to see a film and further contribute the the financial 'success' of an inferior product just to have the bragging rights to say 'it's crap, and I should know because I've wallowed in it!'.

^ I did read on. That's how I knew the attitude behind the comment continued despite your and MarianH's deconstruction of the initial accusation.

Titanic should not be on that list.

James Cameron thought that a Celine Fucking Dion track was the perfect way to round off Titanic. This to me is a perfectly valid reason to dismiss a film without watching it.

In fact it is hard to imagine a more valid reason.

Indeed. How awesome would it have been if Cameron had just busted out Dio doing Holy Diver over the credits?

Okay, so the song is about Satan descending to Hell, but it works for the ship and the movie too. There are diamonds, ocean references, steel, impending doom, and most importantly, something full of holes diving. It's like it's TAILOR MADE.

Holy Diver
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me

Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean

Gotta get away
Holy Diver

Shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you

Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it's all right

Gotta get away-get away

Between the velvet lies
There's a truth that's hard as steel
The vision never dies
Life's a never ending wheel

Holy Diver
You're the star of the masquerade
No need to look so afraid

Jump on the tiger
You can feel his heart but you know he's mean
Some light can never be seen

I haven't seen any of them, but I know they are crap, they must be, because I haven't seen them.

Iron man
LOTR all three
Harry Potter all of them
Titanic
Battleship Potemkin
Black hawk down
Million Dollar baby

I feel confident in describing them as crap, because I am just that clever.

In fact I am so confident and clever I will go into any thread where people actually claim to like them, and say those people are stupid, making excuses for the director, or just plain lying.

Plus I will use over the top words I would never use in real life to back up my statement.

I might even throw in a few "raped my childhood" remarks.

Because god knows, its not war, terrorism, and climate change that are important in the world, its being cleverer than other people because you chose not to see a film that they stupidly went to see.
It's settled then. Someone should have the last word. Might as well be you.
