Spoilers The Flash - Season 5

I have been thinking about who put the inhibitor thing inside Nora and I’m more than convinced that it was Barry. Think about how Iris was kept in the dark and how upset she was about it. Then how she became the biggest supporter of Barry as Flash. There is no way Iris is putting that device into Nora.

I may not have the correct person who does but I’m pretty sure that Iris didn’t do it.

Whether it was Barry or Iris, I suspect that either had a very good reason to have that inhibitor placed inside Nora. And I suspect that it has a lot to do with the fate of Zari Tomaz's family.

A restrictive authoritarian state that controls information and people?

The internet is (as we know it, a free exchange of ideas, and boomtown commerce) gone.

In that case a modern phone may be amazing to Nora.

Some of the headlines on the app. Peregrinator's is a club in Gotham City, and an Oliver Queen support group?

I have to keep reminding myself that there is a 5 month gap between Flash and Arrow this year. I wonder what that means Oliver Queen supporting Group Branches.

"Support Group" like AA.

A church basement with little folding chairs and bad coffee where people talk about what the Green Arrow means to them.

How will I know who my superhero crush is if I don't take that quiz!?!?! :p
#FreeOllie #IsTrashAlsoPlayingAtPeregrinators?

I have absolutely no idea who your superhero crush is and totally wouldn't share it if I did anyway.

I wonder what that means Oliver Queen supporting Group Branches.

"Support group" usually means a group getting together to talk and support each other emotionally through hardship or trauma, so I'd imagine it's for Oliver Queen and/or Green Arrow fans who are upset by his imprisonment. It could be a group rallying for Oliver's freedom or raising funds on his behalf, but then it'd probably be called something like an advocacy group (or a Kickstarter).

I can understand why XS might be perceived as annoying: she's a new character who has, in many ways, taken over the show, and she is blaming OUR characters (the ones for which we have developed an emotional connection) for decisions they have not yet made and were likely perfectly reasonable parental decisions. She has elements of both the Mary Sue trope and the annoying teenage daughter trope.*

All that being said: she's not really a Mary Sue, and I don't find her annoying (yet). She consistently fails at being a speedster (which arguably makes her an anti-Mary Sue), and her dismay at her parents seems to come from a very real and legitimate place (even if we may agree with Barry and/or Iris in the end).

Personally, I think XS has brought a lot to the show. In particular, I think she has made Iris a lot more relevant as a character, which is very much appreciated by me.

*Note: I'm aware that she is not actually a teenager.

Not only is Kennedy not a teenager, she's actually 6 years older than Gustin and 4 years older than Patton!

I just rewatched the first season of Flash, and Nora isn't any more of a screw up than Barry was in season 1. Seriously, Nora needs to spend few days on an Earth that has Netflix.

Also, my theory is that it was Barry who wanted to implant the chip in Nora, and Iris is just protecting Barry's memory to his daughter. Lying to "protect" family members is a trait in the West/Allen Family.

Regardless of the time travel angle, I think they're definitely playing the character as being somewhat younger than 34.

Was Barry supposed to die, when the satellite crashed?

As the future changed, so would her memories of the future.

If Barry was supposed to have died when the satellite crashed, then Iris is pregnant right now... Or Iris was lumbered to look after her deadbeat brother's kid, which can't be true since Nora has Barry's DNA.

Barry could have frozen his sperm, so that Nora could have been born 10 years after Barry's death?

It is unlikely that Iris asked Barry to inseminate her eggs for freezing, back when they were platonic?

What year is Nora from a again - 2040? If so then she would be barely out of her teens assuming Iris gets pregnant in the next 12 months which would also make her young enough to have few if any solid memories of Barry before the Flash disappears circa 2025.

Nora came back 30 years from 2047. Since Barry disappeared in 2024 and she has no memories of him, she was probably born after 2021 (my earliest memories are from age 3). That makes her at most 26 -- well, 27 if she's been living continuously in the present since Barry & Iris's wedding a year ago. That's consistent with her being a college graduate and a qualified CSI.

Not a bad episode overall, and it's clever that they cast a real contortionist to play Rag Doll. But it bugs me that they had a whole skyscraper collapse as an incidental, throwaway plot point. Even if we accept the conceit that there was only one person in the entire building (unlikely in a modern skyscraper), the collapse of such a large building would have a major impact on the city for blocks around and create an environmental hazard for some time thereafter, as we saw after 9/11.

Aside from that, though, that's twice in one week we've gotten mentions of Gotham City (and the architect actually said "Gotham City" instead of the "Gotham" that's become more standard these days). They seem to be laying the groundwork for Batwoman, which suggests it may be on Earth-1 after all.

Ralph's "web-slinging" across the city was a coincidentally timely tribute to Stan Lee. But I kind of regret they spent their CGI money on that instead of giving us an on-camera battle between the two stretchy guys.
