The Flash - Season 1

I thought it was kind of weak that Barry just stood there and let his mom die based on a subtle wave-off from his future self...would have been more dramatic if they'd done a COTEOF and Future Barry had actually held his past self back.

The question is, what has Future Barry learned that made him wave himself off, and how did he learn it?

As for what future-Barry learned...that's going to be an interesting journey to learn the answer to.

And until otherwise advised, I'm assuming that's Garrick's helmet too. ;-)

I was hoping that the wormhole re-opening was going to be Jay Garrick coming through. Would have been a nice setup for him to be Barry's mentor in season 2.

I wonder if Tom Cavanagh being back could be Barry ends up on Earth2 and needs the real Wells help to get back and somehow Wells ends up coming along.

As for Reverse Flash never being born to put things into motion... I think we will see events in the past don't get wiped out unless you alter them at point of origin. Eddie erased ReverseFlash in 2015. Anything he did prior to that still happened.

Eddie prevented Reverse Flash from ever existing. The entire timeline should have changed or that particular Reverse Flash should not have disappeared.

But, hey, wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey.

But if Zoom hadn't existed for Eddie up to that point, then Eddie wouldn't have had a reason to be in the accelerator shooting himself at that particular moment. Thus it's a paradox.

But if he never existed then Eddie never would have been in a position or have a reason to shoot himself.

Which is why I think they're going with a changes to the timestream only flow from the point that they occur and forward in time.

As with all time travel stories, I have long ago decided that whatever rules invented by the storytellers are presented, no matter how far from other forms of time travel or whatever little science we actually have upon which to speculate about time travel, I just go with the flow. Much healthier for one's blood pressure.

Looking forward to next season.

My understanding is that the black hole appeared to swallow Central City because such massive changes in history had just occurred. It didn't help that they had just punched a hole through time at that location and created a weak spot.

We'll see what happens in season two, but I think Barry has some history to fix; and it will probably mean ensuring that Eobard Thawne is brought back into existence.

Yeah, I usually avoid getting involved in time travel discussions around here, because people tend to get into heated debates over how time travel really works, as if, you know, it really works....

What a steaming pile of donkey dung.

And it ends with Barry charging head first into an effing black hole. The show is too young for that kind of shark jumping.

Well, I could tell you how it really works, but then I'd have to kill you. :shifty:

Great finale!

I thought if present-Barry saved his mother and altered the timeline, then the present wouldn't even exist. There might not have been STAR Labs or a particle accelerator or metahumans.

But since Barry chose to keep the original timeline intact, nothing really changed in the present ... until Eddie decided to sacrifice himself. This means the past and the future have now been altered, or have they?

I think Barry's going into the vortex would propel him into the future, and eventually the past, and try to save Professor Zoom's life and Eddie's. How, I don't know. We'll have to wait six months to find out.

Jumping the Shark? Nah. It's the Flash. We call that "Tuesday". :p

I loved it.

Jay's helmet

Time Bubble ( shout out to Rip Hunter)

Barry and his mom :wah:

Eddie's sacrifice

and Cisco!!!!!!

May the Speed Force be with you!!!!

I thought it might come to Joe having to decide whether to kill Eddie to stop Reverse Flash. Turns out Eddie himself took care of that.

Obviously the fact that Eddie was a relation to Reverse Flash was only mentioned so something like this would be an option. There's no other reason for it.

You missed...

KILLER FROST!

Also

1) Quick tease of the Legends
2) Why is Barry in prison in the future (surely a season 2 pilot line)
3) when the wormhole was forming - we see a couple of known characters staring at it... and a woman?? who was she? (edit: It's Hawkgirl).

For me - the key thing is - does it confirm to the rules that show sets for itself - I'm not sure this did - especially in an episode where they took a lot of time explain the 'rules'.

A point does occur to me - the older Flash in the past - he must be from the original timeline right? Because Wells travels to the past from there.
