The Flash - Season 1

That's definitely interesting. Maybe Wells reactivating the Particle Accelerator will lead to Caitlin becoming Killer Frost, and maybe it will lead to Cisco being Vibe eventually? I'm really hyped for the Flash season finale.

I think that

Ronnie dies leading to Killer frost and the fact that Firestorm is likely to Prof. Stein and someone else in Legends of Tomorrow

I could definitely see that happening.
What we see in the trailer makes me wonder if we'll be getting a Flashpoint type story at the beginning of next season. Having Barry save his mom and then come back to the present only to end up in some kind of crazy alternate timeline would be a great season ending cliffhanger.

That would be cool! :techman: It would be interesting to see an alternate reality, a la Flashpoint. I don't know what would possess Caitlin to turn evil, unless she was faced with a major tragedy, like Ronnie's death.

The problem there is that the show has to coexist with Arrow, so it couldn't alter the timeline for more than the space of a single episode, probably.

Also, I wasn't that impressed with the animated DVD adaptation, The Flashpoint Paradox. I'm not sure it's a story I want to see.

Well, I didn't mean an adaptation of Flashpoint, which would be pretty much impossible with the limited number of characters available, I just mean a bad timeline brought about by Barry's mother surviving.

Well everything we are seeing now is an altered reality. Thawne using up all his energy and getting stuck in the past and then taking Wells place moving the particle accelerator failure forward in time was not supposed to happen.

But it's a reality that started in the year 2000, when Thawne came back and killed Wells and Barry's mother. So all of Arrow takes place in that reality. My point is not whether some given timeline has some superior cosmic right to exist, it's about maintaining continuity between the different shows. Assuming the producers want the continuity in Arrow to remain intact, that puts a limit on their ability to alter the timeline in The Flash.

Can anyone explain why Wells left his futuristic battery in the wheelchair when he left?

I have a feeling he left it there on purpose as part of his master plan. He needs the Flash to be capable of time travel if he's to get home; maybe he wants Cisco to use the battery to make the treadmill a little more... Cosmic. But it'll only work if the good guys think it's their own idea.

Well, I see 2 possibilities... Barry DOESN'T save his mother because of a new complication like, she refuses to let him since she's seen the Michael J Fox movies. Or, he saves her by bringing mom "back to the future" with him, and letting the live woman exonerate the incarcerated husband since OF COURSE Daddy was still convicted of her murder since her blood was all over the house and her body was missing.

Both of these possibilities allows the "Barry angst" to continue, Joe still raises Barry, he still falls for Iris, and he still goes to Starling City and saves Ollie at Felicity's request and to gift the Arrow with a mask.

Time travel.
Ever since my first day in the job as a Starfleet Captain I swore I'm never let myself get caught in one of these godforsaken paradoxes. The future is the past, the past is the future. It all gives me a headache. ;)

Why would they make the treadmill supersonic if he has the particle accelerator to run in?

I thought Wells attached that battery to his chest when he was running?

Have they tried to interview/debrief the AI in the secret room about Wells yet?

Barry said that he looked inside Gideon.

If you were stuck in 1859, and the only way to get back to 2015, was to seriously pollute the time line, so that you can return to a version of 2015, or at least somewhere that has air conditioning, cocktails, medicine and the internet, would call that as good as?

It's already way past supersonic. And the Cosmic Treadmill has been part of Flash comics lore for decades; it's what he uses to travel through time. It's hard to believe the producers would set up a treadmill as a major recurring element of the show and not connect it to that bit of lore.

Oh, okay. :alienblush:

This Flash newbie was unaware. Thanks for explaining. :)

Wells' future tech is plugged into the entire accelerator, and the entire accelerator is over clocking itself to the point where they suspect that "something" bad might happen.

Meanwhile the treadmill is gathering dust in the human testing lab.

Yes, we are aware of the Cosmic treadmill from lore, but we are also aware of Gorilla City, kandaq and Frostbite the super villainess with ice powers from Firestorm comics.

I was checking the spelling on kandaq, and there's a character from Game of Thrones called "Skahaz mo Kandaq" which is surely a nod to Shazam comics.

:D

Killer Frost. ;)

Looking at the cast list for the episode, it seems the entire Legends team will be making an appearance. Perhaps they are how things get set right?

By the way, looking at those panel shots from the comics, I just realized... Rick Cosnett (Eddie) looks more like Barry Allen than Grant Gustin does.

I've always thought so too. I wonder if he originally tried out for the part. Sometimes even an unsuccessful audition for one role can be successful for another.
