The Flash - Season 1

Curious to see what their long term plans are. The pro AND the con of this show is that they aren't shy about moving the mythology along. Doesn't feel like any wasted episodes, they've addressed a little of the Wells issue every episode, and it's a refreshing feel.

Just need to make sure they don't run out of big ideas any time soon, as they've almost burned their intro 'issue' already. Assume they've planed for the next evolution, of course, but they didn't keep the original status quo very long.

The show will probably have an arc a season similar to Arrow, but it would be nice to keep the characters evolving as the show progresses.

Great episode.

But I missed the point of the high-rise fire scene?

And couldn't Barry have simply moved each victim to a safe position on a lower floor in less time than it took for him to get the pep-talk from Wells?

Yeah that was a little strange. If you've ever "played" with fire, i.e. run your hand through a lighter flame fast enough you'll know that not much happens.

Now obviously a full blown building fire is another beast but then he's The Flash, it should have been comparatively easy for him to grab the people and at least leave them a few stories below so they can walk down.

The more obvious explanation would be that Wells taught Barry a new skill and it was shown off.

It was mainly a character scene, to underline Barry's ambivalent relationship with Wells -- the way Wells keeps genuinely helping and inspiring him, even though he's the villain.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out Wells set that fire as part of his effort to push Barry to develop new abilities.

I'd speculate that it may also have served to remind us of the relationship between Captain Singh and his fiance Rob, as a setup for some upcoming storyline involving their wedding. We'll see in time if that's true.

I was wondering if Wells started that fire as well. In the past he has wanted Barry to only focus on larger Metahuman problems.

Harrison seemed genuinely peeved (conflicted) that he had to teach Barry how to make wind tunnels.

"Hey buddy, I'm going through the motions here, stop making me act like your daddy."

Although, if Barry swang his arms fast enough while the rest of him remained stationary, it's entirely possibly that only his arms would travel through time and the rest of him would be this bloody mess.

It took a while but i'm getting slightly more into this now (mostly for the time travel possibilities and Wells)

What day is this shown in America cos the discussion on here always seems to be in advance of what i'm watching. It's on Sky on Thursdays in the UK. Next one (the trap) is next Thursday

It's actually first aired in the UK on a tuesday at 8pm as well, but one week behind the US.

(It's Arrow that premieres on Thursdays)

Our CW affiliate also shows Cubs baseball so occasionally Flash and Arrow get pushed into the night or on to the weekends.

Looking ahead to next season I am curious what the writers are going to come up with. Captain Cold and Heatwave are joining Ray so the Rogues won't be the big bad. Gorilla Grodd might be pushing the effects budget to be around an entire season. Any ideas about a Flash story that could fill a season?

^The Trial of the Flash? Haven't read it, but I've heard it went on quite a long time.

I read it back in the day--I am sure that that is a story that will happen eventually but I can't imagine that being a second season plot. Who knows though? I am pretty confident that Johns will have something good though--he does world building very well.

I'm still kind of wishing for a storyline where they use the Flash's universe-hopping powers to bring different DC screen universes together. Maybe a crossover with the '90 series; maybe in a few years a crossover with the feature-film Flash played by Ezra Miller. Maybe a crossover with the universe of Berlanti's Supergirl if that goes to series. Heck, bring in Gotham, Constantine, whatever. Maybe even visit some older DC screen universes. What are Lois and Clark up to these days? Maybe visit a Lynda Carter Wonder Woman who gave up her Amazon immortality decades ago.

Actually, a Flash of Two Earths story might work really well.

Well lets see Abra Kadabra can always appear, I enjoyed the Eradicator as a villian as well as the Shade, but as far as a season long opponent perhaps Vandal Savage might fit the bill.
