The Flash - Season 1

In the past several weeks, Barry and writer Denis McGrath have both indicated that a decision would be coming “soon.” Hopefully “soon” will be soon.
The third season of Continuum finished airing in late June of this year. Here in the US, on Syfy, the season was down by 30% year-to-year in vieweship.
That's from September 6 of this year.

Continuum is expensive to make. Showcase wants it to be cheaper but Simon Barry wants to assure quality, and not have to fire anyone. Which is why they are still talking.

Syfy in America has already said that if Continuum is cancelled, that it will not save Continuum.

How drama works, Firestorm is not going "appear" until after Caitlan has moved on and started sleeping with someone else and then she's conflicted by which boy to persist with after her fiancée returns.

Barry? Unlikely.

Eddie? Do you know what a hate-fuck is? It would be about getting back at Iris for being a dick. Although how could Iris be that much of a dick?

Joe? Too fatherly.

Wells? I can see it happening, power is sexy, but imagine the will power to stay in the chair, pretending to be paralysed, while a beautiful woman is trying to make love to you?

Sisco? Sometimes it's just about who is at hand, but no.

Cisco already used a bulky vibro gun earlier in the series.

Either he turns the gun into a suit, of there's a metahumanizing accident while he is making love to the gun and he gets vibro powers.

Caitlan could have a similar accident with a cold gun, or weirdly survive an attack from captain Cold?

Actually, Cisco used the vibrogun in one of his Arrow appearances last year.
I was wondering if perhaps Thawne, if he is Reverse Flash, didn't realize he had gotten powers yet. The end pretty much rules that possibility out.

Unless the yellow-suited figure is his future self. Or perhaps a descendant. The detective is Eddie Thawne, but Reverse Flash is Eobard Thawne. People have been assuming that Eddie is an alias for Eobard, but some have suggested that he's an ancestor instead.
Does anybody remeber if you could tell who was in the yellow suit leaked pics a while back? I had just assumed it was Rick Cosnett, but I can't remember for sure if you could make out the person's face clearly.
I'm also curious to see how they plan on doing Grodd. If this were a movie I would just assume he would be 100% CGI, but I could see them doing a suit/puppet kind of thing too, especially if he plays a big role in multiple episodes.
We already saw a CGI Grodd in the tag scene last week (or was it the week before that?) By now, CGI is sophisticated enough that it's doable on TV, although it won't look as real as it does in the Planet of the Apes movies, say. A number of TV shows in recent years have featured CGI creatures on a regular basis. Primeval featured CGI monsters every week. Grimm uses CGI to create its Wesen faces.

And the Flash himself is pretty clearly a CG construct in a lot of his big action shots on the show, most notably the "supersonic punch" slow-motion shot in this episode.
I have to admit I forgot just how much CG they did use on shows like Primeval. And now that I think about it they also did have the CGI Cylons in quite a bit of BSG and Caprica.

So if Caitlyn becomes Killer Frost, that means she'll become a villain eventually. Would be nice to give her a different identity instead, like Tora Olafsdottir, a.k.a. Ice, so that she and Vibe would fight alongside Flash.

Well, not necessarily. These producers aren't above taking a character name from the comics and creating a totally different character around it -- e.g. the only thing the Arrow's sidekick/love interest Felicity Smoak has in common with Firestorm's antagonist-turned-stepmother Felicity Smoak is a knowledge of computers. So character names are not destiny.

They could even use the Crystal Frost or Louise Lincoln versions of Killer Frost and not use Caitlin as the character all all.

I totally didn't know about Felicity's background in the comics ... I thought she was just a made-up character on the show. :)

Fire and ice.

If she's hooking up with Firestorm who has a flaming high top, then she has to have icy dreadlocks.

Then the question becomes, can they make out without killing each other?

She melts as his furnace peters out.

Backing up a bit, during almost the entire episode I kept saying "Brass knuckles" over and over again. Brass might not have defeated Girder's steel, but they really need to build something into his gloves if he's going to be punching at super speed.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see if Cisco ever builds him some kind of special armored suit in the future. Because it does seem like something that would come in handy for fighting bigger and stronger villains like this (and I'm sure it would only restrict his speed a small amount).

Ya know the worst thing about this show is that horrible silvery chromey Flash graphic they use to go to commercials.
Another growth story for Barry and oh my the names dropped by Wells. Dibney dead? Lets hope not.
The Clock King was well used in the throw away second story much better than generic bad guy number 3.
So much death this week I thought I was watching Arrow.
