I've spent a lot of time thinking about this..

The Five Levels of Trek Fandom

1. You watched TNG in college and you are facebook friends with George Takei.

2. You own at least 3/4 of one series on DVD and you are facebook friends with George Takei.

3. You are intimately acquainted with several series of Trek, have a very strong opinion about ST:XI and are facebook friends with George Takei.

4. You post passionately about Trek on the internet, have at least one Trek picture or calendar in your home and are facebook friends with George Takei.

5. You attend conventions, have a Trek blog, have a pet named after a Trek character and are facebook friends with George Takei.

I've seen all of Trek, except for TAS, several times, and I get jittery if I don't watch anything Trek for a week or so. I've attended two conventions, I have autographed photos of several Trek actors, a TOS poster in my room, the TOS 365 book, a VOY communicator and the Enterprise bottle opener. I post regularly on Trek boards and am proud to feel a part of the fan community. I don't have a Trek blog or a pet named after a Trek character. I'm also not FB friends with George Takei. I did shake hands with Captain Sisko and Captain Archer, though.:techman:

I guess that puts me, oh, between 4 or 5? :p

I've seen all episods of Trrek including TOS. Yes I have attened ST conventions (as well as other cons) but these days my con appeareances are more to catch up with friends than seeing the guests.

I own zero Trek on DVD. I don't rewatch episodes except on cable.

I don't use facebook.

Watching humourous re-edits on Youtube and these forums are about it.

I'm up to level 4 except I have no facebook.

(The Trek picture I have in my home, BTW, is an autographed photo of Nancy Hower. :adore: )

I don't use Facebook either, but I'm a Mod on a Trek board so that should put me at level 10. ;)

Shouldn't there be a level 0 where all you ARE is "facebook friends with George Takei?" :rommie:

Teacake, I noticed you didn't tell us where YOU rate. :p

By your rating scale, I simply don't count at all. :cardie:

I'm a number four, except for the fact that I'm not Facebook friends with George Takei. Or anyone, really.

I went from being very passionate about Trek in the '90s to being more cavalier about it now. I don't own any of the shows on DVD, but I got a ton of Trek books and comics I keep in file cabinets. I've also got a large box filled with Trek action figures and ships tucked away in a dark corner of my closet and the only real visible sign of any Trekkieness in my house is several metal combadges in an open jewelry box...

I guess my level of Trek Fandom is somewhere around fair to middlin' these days.

which part don't you understand? facebook, friends or george takei?

i own lots of novels, i have a few TNG episodes on DVD, i have a lot of Trek on VHS, i have a Captain Calhoun action figure, a model 1701 (both on display in my room) and postcards of Troi and Dax and a Seven mounted photo. i also wrote 100 Trek fan-fics. i think that makes me a level 5 irrespective of my not being friends with George.

I qualify for parts of 3 and 4 but not any of the others. :rommie:

I try not to be Facebook friends with anyone. Facebook is de debble!
