It kind of feels like the marketing is just so unimaginative. It just shouts that they saw GotG being popular and so are copying that trailer. Last time with ID they copied the TDK stuff, but did a terrible job in general. Seems they haven't learned, all the other trailers this year like JW, SW, Independence Day etc have kind of relied on nostalgia. I bet Trek 4 will too, while the marketing of other movies has moved on.

That's definitely "Gene's Vision" in action, take something away from millions that enjoy it, because it doesn't work for me.
Eh. Uhura's uniform was red at 1:11, not gold like it was in every other shot. At 1:17 we see Bailey at navigation, and he's the one who later fires the phasers from that station, but just four seconds earlier, at 1:13, it was someone else at navigation reacting to what's on the view screen. Those two ridiculous, sophomoric mistakes ruined the entire thing for me. Poor production values, I'd say.

Clearly they have no interest in preserving Gene's Vision, and have instead chosen to disregard canon in favor of whatever is cheap and easy. RIP Star Trek.

It's going to be seen by tens of millions of people this weekend...and not one out of a million will give a fuck that Kirk flies a motorcycle or that it's not scored with orchestral musak.
They got it in front of Star Wars. That's what matters.
I was really hoping for Alice Eve to return. Her, and I want to see more of that red shirt chick with the pixie blonde hair that was seen all too briefly in Into Darkness.
Now that you mention it, yeah, what's up with her?
She just got married.
