I don't understand all the hate for this teaser. It's just a teaser, after all. You can't tell anything about the plot, or the score, or anything else about the movie as a whole.
My 1000-mile guess for the plot:
Act 1: The Enterprise, starting it's five-year mission, encounters a world with some kind of automated defense mechanism, akin to the Echo Pappa 607 from "Arsenal of Freedom", but instead of one, it's millions, and is being actively used by the main bad guy (played by Idris Elba) for reasons currently unknown - likely to build some kind of slave army from the crews of downed ships. The swarm effectively wrecks the Enterprise when it gets too close and crashes. On some of the quick shots that have been shown, this planet appears to be a starship graveyard, which is likely where we also see the "Franklin", or "Yorktown" or whatever. In fact, it is likely the consistent loss of multiple Starfleet vessels in this sector that tasks Enterprise to go out and investigate, meeting the same fate.
Act 2: They run into an ass-ton of aliens from all over the galaxy, easily allowing some cameo appearances from little-seen favorites. Some people think that one of them is a Reman and another a Caitian. Maybe true, and why not? The conditions of how beings wind up here could lead us to see any number of races, both known and unknown. The Enterprise crew joins the enslaved aliens and leads a rebellion against Elba's character.
Act 3: There are likely other ships hidden on the planet that the enemy has either built or retrofitted for their purpose. Kirk & co., with the help of other stranded Starfleet officers and aliens (like the female with super-white skin and black stripes - akin to Lokai and Bele from "Last Battlefield", maybe?) would need to coordinate effort to get to them and rescue everyone else off the planet, while at the same time wiping out the enemy (and maybe even the whole planet) to prevent anyone else from getting trapped there again.
Got no problem with the music, as it's clearly a call-back to the scene in '09. Kirk clearly has a history fetish (canonical, as many here have cited) and works with things that harken back to a "simpler time".
Looks like it's going to be a fun movie. Will gladly even pay top-dollar at an IMAX theater to see it, without hesitation. Bring it!
