"The First Duty" Line-by-Line

Greetings!

We've recently concluded our "The Menagerie" Line-by-Line thread over in the TOS forum!

After each completed thread, I'm randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Adm_Hawthorne! And Adm_Hawthorne has chosen "The First Duty " as our next line-by-line adventure!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread, I will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do.

PICARD (voice only): Captain's Log, stardate 45703.9. We are en route to Earth, where it will be my pleasant duty to deliver this year's commencement address at Starfleet Academy. I'm also looking forward to seeing Wesley Crusher again. His flight team will perform a demonstration near Saturn that will be transmitted to the graduation ceremonies.

 

[LeadHead]

Worf: Captain, Starfleet Academy is requesting an update on our estimated arrival.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

PICARD: Mister Data?

 

[LeadHead]

Data: We should be arriving at Earth in 10 hours, 16 minutes Sir.

 

[Rett Mikhal]

Picard: "Please inform the academy, Mr. Worf; and send my regards to superintendent Brand."

 

[LeadHead]

Worf: Aye Sir.

 

[Leandar]

Deanna: Do you know Admiral Brand?

 

[Ziz]

Picard: We've met a few times. She's a formidable woman.

 

[Leandar]

Riker: Sounds like my superintendent. When I was at the Academy, we had a Vulcan Superintendent who had memorized the personnel files of every single cadet. He knew everything about them. It was like having your parents around all the time.

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: My Superintendent was a Betazoid, a full telepath. When he sent fr you to his office, he didn't have to ask what you'd done.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

RIKER: You got called into the superintendent's office? That's a story I'd like to hear.

 

[Brian]

WORF: Sir, we are being hailed again by the Academy. It is Admiral Brand.

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: On screen.

 

[Vulcan Princess]

Worf: Sir, she is requesting a private channel.

 

[Skrain Dukat]

Picard: in my ready room

<goes into RR and activates moitor.

Picard: "Admiral Brand what can I do for you?

 

[Vulcan Princess]

Brand: Hello, Captain. I know you're a close friend of the Crusher family.

 

[LeadHead]

Picard: Yes.

 

[Vulcan Princess]

Brand: I wanted to inform you personally. There's been an accident.

 

[LeadHead]

Later in Crushers Office...

Picard: He had second degree burns on his chest and multiple fractures of his right arm, but he's going to be fine.
