And yes, I know, it could be your personal favorite didn’t make it this far. I really think The Devil in the Dark should be here, but it’s not. In any case, it’s a voting process so let’s see who the final winner is.

Out of these three, I would put Doomsday Machine in 3rd, but it was really difficult to pick between Balance of Terror and City.

I went with The City on the Edge of Forever.

Doomsday Machine hands down. I've never been a big fan of TCOTEOF, and though BOT is excellent, DDM is lightyears ahead of it in terms of story, acting, visual effects, and soundtrack.

Suddenly, I have to say BoT is the most over-rated. It didn't occur to me that it would be this popular, and I don't understand it.

I'd probably have to name a half dozen to a dozen season one episodes before I got around to the other seasons.

City, by a wide margin.

And while I agree with others that COTEOF is overrated, I can't help but feel that ALL these final three episodes are somewhat overrated in some way or another. And usually, I feel the overrated ones are never the best or definitive episode.

Whatever wins here, I can't say it would be an episode that I would use to introduce TOS to a new viewer.

While all 3 are excellent Trek, The City On The Edge of Forever was lyrical, poetic, and still--to this day--rings true. No other episode, even after years of viewing, never fails to entertain and provoke emotion. That's just me, of course.

But to say that City is overated?
