Oh, you're right of course. I edited my post accordingly.Isn't this a no spoiler thread?
Isn't this a no spoiler thread?
Anyway, just for shits 'n' giggles- here is my speculation based on the trailers...
old time-line- (new time-line)
2233- Kirk Born
2233- (Kirk Born/Parents die on Kelvin)
2233+ (Nero's attacks on Starfleet alter history/ construction of USS Enterprise is delayed 15 years and relocated to Iowa)
2246- USS Enterprise launched
2246- Kirk's father is stationed at Taurus 4/ Kirk witnesses massacre
2246-(Kirk is orphan hoodlum in Iowa/steals classic car)
2251- Kirk joins Starfleet
2251- (Kirk becomes town drunk)
You forgot, of course, the most vital factoid of all. In 2251, after the visit by Pike at the bar, young Kirk is visited by Gleason, who convinces the young man that Vaudeville is dead and that his ambitions to be a traveling young comedian in the Catskills is misplaced.....

I seem to recall reading Orci quoted as saying that most of the film takes place about 25 years after the Kelvin incident, which would place it roughly around 2257, if they don't tinker with the year that Kirk is born. The thing of it is, if this is indeed the year that the large portion of the movie's events occur, and the Big E is just getting launched, then I honestly think the Talos IV event has no bearing in this universe (or restructured timeline).
