The Ferengi --- are you a fan?

It was also great how Quark could have hilarious scenes in otherwise serious episodes without killing the atmosphere but rather adding to it.
"Starship Down", "Shadows and Symbols" come to mind.
Not to mention masterpieces like "Body Parts", "Rules..." "Bar Association", and "The Ascent", which had lots of great, sometimes zany humor, but were so much more than just simple comedy episodes.

Nog took this one step further, allowing for genuinely serious stories involving a Ferengi. And "Profit and Loss" showcased as well how truly versatile this species had become.

I always liked the "Ferengi episodes". There is a great novella called "Reservoir Ferengi" in the Seven Deadly Sins anthology that is worth checking out.

It wasn't until they started to be re-written as semi-comedic characters and a satire of capitalism that I started to like them.

This is the same for me. I have to admit being a fan of the Magnificent Seven film, 'The Magnificent Ferengi' Episode is a guilty pleasure:p

The worked better as a satire for captialism at its worse and I loved 'Brunt...F.C.A' every time he said it :)

Quark's funny, but I don't like the race as a whole. And their attitude to females sure stinks!
