the fates of Chuck and Heroes

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
Believe it or not: both may return.

NBC still has a couple major titles on the bubble for renewal -- namely "Chuck" and "Heroes" -- but sources indicate both will probably return, with "Heroes" likely receiving a 13-episode "final season" order.
What makes this even more plausible is the lack of good buzz for NBC's one sci fi pilot, The Cape. If it's looking unappealing, NBC will look more kindly on the sci fi shows they do have, and then roll the dice again for the 2011-12 season.
"It is all yet to be debated," Bromstad said. "Both of those shows make sense with the new shows we'll be bringing on."
Translation: our pilots suck! Help!

Okay sports fans. WHAT the frak is Heroes going to do for another 13 episodes? (And you can't say "suck.") :rommie: Peter and Sylar move in together and do an Odd Couple schitck!

Good gort. This means Heroes will have outlasted Lost. :wtf:

I couldn't care less about Heroes, but I'm certainly hoping for another season of Chuck. Looking forward to the rest of the one we already have too.

Was Season 4 of Heroes even worth watching?

I watched Season 1 and absolutely loved it........until the finale.
Season 2 was very much like Season 1, but not quite as good.
Season 3 was a trainwreck and I couldn't bear to watch any more (which is rare for me)

Was Season 4 actually worth watching.....?

(And if you say it is, so be it, I trust your opinion Temis, I just didn't think they could recover from the mess that was Season 3.)

Season 4 is a big improvement over season 3. At least, I thought so. Don't get me wrong, the show still has its "wtf" moments, but it wasn't nearly the clusterfuck it was the previous year.

Sylar turns evil.

Yet another cache of Isaac Mendez's drawings are discovered.

Hiro does little.

Claire rebels against her father.

Peter touches his hair.

Hooray for NBC's experiment with Jay Leno which gutted the network of viable hourlong shows!

No. :rommie:

Okay, there was some fun stuff with the mindfrak elements: Sylar vs. Matt, "Nathan" vs. Sylar. Peter was written noticeably better and people seem to have stopped hating him so much. I liked his paramedic uniform. :bolian:

But I'm still aghast at Peter's attitude towards "Nathan" - far too accepting of the guy who murdered your brother, hello! NITWIT!

And I'm not sure what to make of the "Twilight Zone" episode with Sylar and Peter. That could utterly change their relationship to each other, but to have it happen in a single episode feels like a cheat. Better writers might be able to pull off an abrupt 180 like that.

And if the producers really did give Adrian Pasdar the boot in an abrupt fashion, they need to go grovelling back to him for S5 because there's no way that "Nathan"'s story is over.

As ever, Heroes is chock-full of interesting ideas in the hands of writers who don't have the slightest idea how to shape those ideas into compelling, reasonably intelligent drama. I watch it because the ideas are fun, even if the implementation is a disaster, and the actors are generally either talented or at least well cast in their roles.

Heroes Five just needs to do a basic X-Men ripoff. A team of super-powered guys band together to stop evil super-villains. Together. Working together. Not in separate storylines never interacting.

They could actually do that at the point where the story is, as of the end of S4. I'll code this in case you still plan to watch S4 and don't want to be spoiled.

Now that the world knows about the metahumans, what's going to be their first reaction? Yippee, real-life superheroes! Get to work, superheroes. Do something heroic already!

Of course the general public has no idea how frakked up these people are - they weren't all that stable originally and they're even more traumatized now.

Sylar appears to be "cured" now (blerg) and knowing the Heroes writers, they'll forget that he's still wanted for murdering his mother and a bunch of other killings. With his vast range of powers and need to be the center of attention, he will become a media superstar. At first, things will be okay but soon spin out of control for Sylar and everyone.

These people are far too damaged to have the powers they possess and a well-written show would have a lot of fun with that idea.

I want Chuck back, but (without meaning to) I've been recording but not watching Heroes all this season. Given that Nathan was (IMHO) the most interesting character of the lot, his fate makes me less inclined to catch up on it when there's other things left unwatched.

The mind fuck I want to see is Angela and Sylar making out and he says "Are you my other or my lover?" and she replies "can't I be both?"

Heroes was dead to me and then I killed it's vampire ass, but some fuck brought it back as a xombi which i exploded with my boomstick and now it's just a plain and simple ghost who won't stop bugging me. It's hardly fair that everything I bury comes back.

Oh the brightside, as long as Hayden is locked away in her little Heroes box, she can't wander out and ruin any other half decent shows... Oh goodness, does quid pro quo still hold any sway between actors? maybe Gracie could have asked her to visit Californiacation for a few episodes so that they could make out some more?

Hopefully Chuck gets a full season order so we don't get another 'just in case' finale that we now have 2 of.

Most appropriate.

The whole Heroes vs. Lost warfare was mostly driven by fans of Lost. So if it makes them cry, so much the better.

I've never noticed any "warfare" from Lost fans. :rommie: Maybe during Heroes' first season when it was worth fighting with. But since then, it's kinda like beating up on one of the "special kids."

The mind fuck I want to see is Angela and Sylar making out and he says "Are you my other or my lover?" and she replies "can't I be both?"
You mean "mother," right? Or is this some kind of oblique Lost crossover. :wtf:

Temis is your relationship with "Heroes" like mine is with "Smallville"? LOL I could care less about "Heroes" but yay for "Chuck" if it gets renewed.

It makes me happy that "Chuck" has managed to survive this long. I was really afraid for it last year. I really want it to eventually be a movie. I think it would be amazing.
