News The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Updates

Not much revealed in the new trailer (I was aware of most of what those scenes meant), but this is the only Marvel TV production that has my interest. Even from the trailers, its world has such a completely different feeling than the other series' trailers or known plot.

So...just like how in real life the world is different to each person?

Heck, even the characters in "The Wire" outright said that Baltimore is very different depending on who you are and where you live.

Expecting every single MCU movies to be some non-powered "Serious Drama" is extremely limiting and antithetical to the nature of the source material.

Can we please not get into that debate again?
I've watched that movie twice, but its the only new Star Wars movie released in my lifetime (aka since 1990) that I didn't see in theaters (not counting the Clone wars movie, which I also didn't see in theaters but is more of a TV pilot turned into a movie for some reason), and that comes down to it being very bad. I couldn't tell you the name of any character outside of Han, Lando, Chewie and Darth Maul, and I don't even know what Savareen is (is that the planet that The Vision's base was on, or the one where they robbed the train? Are they the same planet?).
Savareen was the planet they were on at the end, where they went to deliver the coaxium to Vos.
I remember the boring mask character showing up twice, for probably less then 4-5 minutes screen time, and barely showing their face at the end, after having added nothing to the story (one of many things that could, and should, have been cut from the movie).
So its possible that she showed her face more then I remember, but considering the fact that I think Solo is worse then AotC, I'm not going to be checking on that anytime soon, so I guess I'll take your word for it. She still played a minor, pointless character in the worst SW movie, but I have no opinion on her as an actor, she could be fine, but she certainly doesn't seem like she'd fit the role she's been cast in for this show. But, I doubt she's the main villain, in fact we pretty much know she isn't, so it doesn't really matter. It just seems like odd casting.
She was a pretty important part of the story, since she was the one that they joined up with to fight Vos at the end, and her and the Cloud Riders ended up with the coaxium once everything was said and done.
In the novelization they also revealed that the Cloud Riders, the group that Enfy Nest was in charge of, was working with Saw Gerrara and the Partisans.
Han sympathizing with Enfy Nest was also a big part of the movie showing Han's more heroic side that we'd see later in the OT.
Sorry, I really liked Enfys Nest, and I tend to get a bit defensive over characters I like that much.

Solo was a fun ride of a movie. Not my favorite of the franchise, but at least I didn't fall asleep watching like I did during the sequel trilogy.

Both of those movies look like The Godfather when compared to Force Awakens and Rise Of Solo...
Nah. Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back, and Rogue One are above the average--the rest of the Star Wars collection of movies is pretty much interchangeable in terms of quality. And the whole is greater than the sum of its parts (first two produced excepted--they are legitimately great).

Huh, I could've sworn this was the discussion thread for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier...
Surely, after 20 years in this "hive of scum and villainy" , you've seen just about very thread you've ever entered experience some sort of "topic drift" by page 15?

But if it helps...

What makes me look forward to this series most is that it appears to be thematically (both in and out of story) closer to the second Captain America film than the third one. I hope that turns out to be the case. But, as ever, I will reserve judgement until I've seen it.

Winter Soldier's the absolute peak of the MCU so far, at least for me.

If it's the template for FatWS I'll be well happy.

Oh, I'm very use to it (and sick of it), but I was trying to be polite! ;)

As much as I love Civil War, I agree with that hope and I do think based on what we've seen in the trailer is leaning in the direction of The Winter Soldier.

Yeah, definitely getting Winter Soldier vibes from the trailer. Which makes sense since Falcon and Winter Soldier are two of the most grounded and characters in the MCU. Of course there's also the Hawkeyes, but that looks like it's going for more of low level street hero vibe, will looks going to be more of a spy thriller kind of thing.

Wrong Falcon. This thread is about discussing whether or not Han could have used the Millennium Falcon within the atmosphere of Hoth to help the Rebels winter soldiers fight back against the Walkers being used to attack the Rebels. Just taking awhile to get people to focus on the topic. People keep wanting to talk MCU stuff for some reason.

It just occurred to me, something about Ross that hasn't come up much....

Just what IS his Government Rank now? As Secretary of State, he was 4th in line...Ellis' VP was revealed as a traitor in IM3 which was years before Ross came onboard so clearly there has to be a new VP there.

But has anything been revealed about if the President, new VP and the Speaker of the House (if that's the 3rd in Line) were dusted? We know Ross wasn't although Betty was and it was her being brought back that led to him deciding to abandon his hunt for the Avengers and bury the hatchet.

Potentially, could Ross have been the one running the US during the 5 years?

How do we know that Betty was and that caused him to bury the hatchet? Some side-story comic outside of the movies?

Only if no replacement VP was appointed after Rodriguez' ousting. Otherwise the line of succession is President, Vice President, Speaker, President pro tempore, then the SecState.

Given that approximately six years passed AFAWK between IM3 and IW, then not only was there almost certainly a new VP, but Ellis himself should be on the way out.

No, but honestly it doesn't really make a great deal of difference as Ellis was on his way out (after his second term by that point)

Potentially, could Ross have been the one running the US during the 5 years?

It's unlikely that he could serve more than the balance of Ellis' second term as Acting President by virtue of the line of succession, although him being elected via whatever process used in the months after the Snap as the "strong hand at the wheel in this unprecidented crisis" isn't unlikely and could see him through to the end.

How do we know that Betty was and that caused him to bury the hatchet? Some side-story comic outside of the movies?
