TV action stars are getting The Expendables treatment as Sylvester Stallone's hit feature franchise is heading to television.

Fox is developing The Expendables, an event series based on the movies, with the franchise's writer and star Stallone executive producing alongside the films' producer Avi Lerner.

Writing/executive producing the TV adaptation are feature writing duo Greg Coolidge (Ride Along) & Kirk Ward and NCIS: LA executive producer/showrunner Shane Brennan.

It is described as a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.

Who would you like to see starring in this? Or is it another lame idea? I guess that depends on who is in it.

Well, it obviously begs the question of who you'd want to see on the show.

One of Agents of SHIELD's biggest mistake this season was having Lucy Lawless and Fred Dryer appear as one-shot characters.

Iconic tv stars? Or washed up ones? Or both?

Well, if you're going for the same sort of vibe as the film version, I'd suggest some of the following names (all subject to budget and/or how desperate for work they are):

Mr T, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Schulz

Don Johnson

Scott Baluka

Lee Majors

David Hasslehoff

Dennis Franz, Jimmy Smits, David Caruso

Bruce Campbell

David Duchovny

Andre Braugher

Dominic Purcell

A fairly wide net but let's not forget that the film stars ranged from Harrison Ford to Jean Claude Van Damme.

Would this affect Stallone's stated interest in doing an EX4 and making up for the admitted mistake of making EX3 PG-13?

^Or because the series isn't successful enough to warrant a big screen release any more?

@ JoeZhang good call on Selleck!

Don Johnson, Adrian Paul, Dean Cain, Fred Dryer, David Hasselhoff, Richard Dean Anderson, Lucy Lawless, Mark Valley, Lorenzo Lamas, Luke Perry, Richard Hatch, Bruce Boxleitner.
