The "Everyone's A Psycho But Me" Thread

People who walk across crosswalk's against a red light in the face of oncoming traffic and then get mad at the cars who have to stop and start honking at them. I really believe if you are driving down the road at 50 miles an hour, and the light is green, and some idiot decides he is going to walk out right in front of you you should be able to step on the gas and mow his ass down because he obviously has no survival instinct and will get Darwined sooner or later anyway.:klingon:

People who want modern American law to be based on something said by an ancient Middle Eastern tribesman or Medieval monk.

People who think "Darker & Grittier" is cool and stories written for adults are "cheesy."

People who brag about their ignorance and denigrate high standards.

People who take pleasure in hurting animals.

For starters....

I am a fairly tolerant person, but here is the scenario that makes me absolutely nuts. Nuts. Let's look at Person A and Person B. These two persons have a fundamental disagreement about something that is purely a matter of opinion - religion, for example, or politics, or about a particular artistic work.

Now, a sane person such as Person A (or me ;) ) realizes that it's perfectly possible for two people to consider a question carefully and thoughtfully but still come to different conclusions. But Person B "knows" for an absolute fact that if Person A has different beliefs, it's because A hasn't thought about it enough. Or A is a mindless drone who can't think for himself. Or A hasn't read the right books or listened to the right people. Or A just isn't very bright.

I mean, if A was as thoughtful, independent, well-informed and intelligent as B, he'd agree with him, right? Right?

Riiiiiiight.

Also, people who say reading is boring are just plain crazy. I try to be tolerant, but that's just absurd, right? Right?

Right.

What grinds my gears? I can't stand it when someone will not allow others to have a coherent idea or opinion of their own. It is either their way or the highway with no grey to speak of. We are all different with different views, experiences and viewpoints. That is how it should be. I just wish more people could learn to respect and accept that.

(This is why the idea of the Borg completely scares the shit out of me. One mind? I don't think so.)

I'm not a patient person. You know who drives me crazy? The fuckers who can't bag their own groceries but wait for the cashier to bag them. I want to throttle those people. And it's not just old people that do that. Perfectly able bodied people do it all the time. (And i do give the oldsters a break, I would kill them painlessly while the others I would make suffer.)

I do this for two reasons. The main one is that they often don't want you to bag things yourself in the two stores I usually go to. This is connected to the second reason. I was a bagger for a little while and we weren't supposed to let other people bag for themselves, and when they did it always irritated me because they were too slow or getting in my way or just not doing it right.

I also don't bag my own groceries at the stores because that was the worst job of my life and bagging brings on painful flashbacks that make me want to stab someone.

 "stab someone" !!!!

Where i live the stupormarkets don't have 'baggers'. If we did, i could understand people not bagging their own. But here, people bag their own. Unless they're royalty. Or think that no one else matters (like the people in line behind them.) GAH! Makes me crazy!

Wouldn't the stores save quite a lot of money by making the customers bagging their own goods? It's certainly not a problem were I come from, chaos after the register is extremly uncommon.

Physical contact. The people that hug constantly, the guys that think it's okay to casually put their arm around me, the guy at the post office that is constantly grabbing my hands across the counter. I willingly hug my mom, my husband, and that's about it. I don't want other people touching me all the time!

I was like that too, a long time ago. Then i became friends with people who are self-professed "hug whores" and wouldn't take no for an answer. Eventually they wore me down and now i actually like being hugged. :)

Oh, my friends are like that too but they haven't worn me down. I'll hug them but I don't have to like it!

Kestra, you'd hate me then. There are people who work in the stupormarket that i hug!! I guess that makes me a hug whore. A hug whore! I love that!

I am not a "toucher" either. I don't even like someone in my personal bubble most of the time. Hugging, shaking hands, holding hands, even pats on the back freak me out. Over the years, I have gotten very good at subtly deflecting or diverting someone if they try to invade my space. There are a few people I will allow but it is far and few between.
