The epic quality of the 34th Rule

Just read this again for the first time in a decade. Was so great. What are some novels that take place during any of the series that share such an epic story? This told a grand story in the middle of season 4 of DS9, kind of like the String Theory trilogy of Voyager or even Prime Directive for TOS. What are some other BIG stories for the other series?

For TNG, Federation and Imzadi are two that come to mind (the first is also in the middle of TOS for the Kirk portions). The DS9 Millennium trilogy partially takes place just before the end of Season 6. For BIG TOS stories, try almost anything by Diane Duane (My Enemy, My Ally or The Wounded Sky are fantastic).
