The End of Time = A Christmas Carol

I suspect The End of Time will be like A Christmas Carol, with
Timothy Dalton playing the role of one of the Ghosts or guides. When you think about A Christmas Carol, you realize how well it could be adapted for Doctor Who.

A Christmas Carol is above all a time travel story. The protagonist is accompanied by companions to each time, and it takes on a very personal dimension which is what you would expect with Ten's final story. That is not to say I think it will simply be a retrospective of past, present and future. There will be stakes, as there always are.

I also suspect that the causation of Ten's death will happen in The Waters of Mars, why else push it back to November when production and post production is complete? They clearly want to narrow the gap between that and the last two. I also think that the Meta Crisis regeneration will have nothing to do with his death: it's too complicated. RTD generally shys away from complication and prefers to tell a human story. It would also mean that Ten died very slowly from being shot by a Dalek, which is kind of, lame.

But then again, what do I know?

Not quite. "The End of Time" will be a line-for-line rendition of the first three "Dune" novels, with the Doctor as the Kwisatz Haderach. At the end, he's stabbed by Donna Noble who proclaims him a heretic, but he regenerates into his own progeny who is half Time Lord, half Slitheen. Roll credits.

^ The first 3 Dune novels? Christmas night wouldn't be long enough to fit all that in!

If the metacrisis isn't the reason for the regeneration, or at least a part-cause, I'll eat my own face off. I see why people think of the whole Christmas Carol/Wonderful Life stuff, butin my opinion - and admittedly I've been avoiding most spoilers that are less obvious - there's plenty of stuff to suggest it isn't, not least

the Diary of Impossible Things being published and Verity Redfern

Not again! I hate it when they recycle scripts from earlier in the series! :(
