The Eleventh Doctor - who else auditioned?

^I'd rather see Rickman as The Doctor. I like casting against type. Sure, he would be an excellent Master but it would be a bit too predictable, IMHO.
Rickman appears to have been director Leonard Nimoy's choice to play the Doctor in the early-90s Doctor Who film, though screenwriter Denny Martin Flinn envisioned Pierce Brosnan for the role.

^ Yeah, I remember that.

Maybe Brosnan could come back as the next incarnation of Rassilon ...

Actually how about a flashback where Daniel Craig stars as an earlier incanration of Rassilon who locks horns with Christopher Eccleston. The gritty Doctor vs the gritty Bond!

^ They could just use clips from Our Friends In The North instead - both men appeared in it around the time Brosnan debuted as 007 and Paul McGann made his only appearance as the Doctor.

James Nesbitt would be an awesome Doctor, but an even BETTER Master. In fact, going on the 'Moriarty'-angle like they did with Tennant/Simms, Nesbitt would be perfect for Eccleston's Doctor. The same intensity, darkness, everything.
You just blew my mind. Awesome thinking.
