The Doctor works for Lex Luthor

In the recent issue of Action Comics, Luthor has an assistant who looks like Tennant's Doctor, complete with suit, long coat, glasses and hair. The issue was written by Paul Cornell. ( no stranger to Doctor Who)

Yeah he's been around since the first issue of the arc. I didn't put two and two together though with who he resembled until you pointed out. A bit of a know it all too lol.

And the point of that would be... ? You'll have to fill me in, I haven't read Superman in ages.

Just sayin'...

I noticed right off when Cornell's run began. Lex's assistant looks like Tennant, complete with sideburns. Pete Woods is using some major photoreferencing; Lois Lane, for example, looks like Zooey Deschanel.

I haven't figured out if Woods' Lex is photoreferenced and, if he is, who the actor is supposed to be.

^ Yeah Zooey totally is the reference for Lois Lane...and for some time now I have been a big proponent of Zooey portraying Lois in Superman movie. I think she would be absolutely terrific. The assistant however meets an unfortunate end thanks to the Lois droid and Joker taking the blame for it. Lex didn't seem to mind much though.

Indeed. So I went gallivanting through the galleries of Google until I grabbed some GIFs that appear to be of the guy in question.

Behold.

Yeah, yeah, technically they're JPEGs, but I was caught up in a bit of alliterative whimsy.

I really wonder what's going to happen to the Lois Droid.

More importantly, I wonder what Clark and Lois will think of the Lois Droid. :)

As for the Tennant assistant, I'm surprised he's lasted as long as he has. I thought he was skating on thin ice since the start of the story arc.

I can't read those panels without hearing Tennant's voice. But now I'm convinced that the assistant is there because of a tip from Mickey.

(also, because of the long and wonderful experience that was the DCAU, I also hear Clancy Brown and Mark Hamill along with Tennant -- I'd pay good money to see the three in a live action project, never mind voicing a cartoon together)

By the by, not long ago, Doc Magnus, creator of the Metal Men, was sporting a Tennant look. Trenchcoat, dress slacks, chuck taylors, messy geek chic brown hair. If he turns out to be the undercover assistant, too...

I really don't know how I have missed this for this long lol. As for the Lois droid I have a suspicion that when Superman returns in April he will either dismantle her or understanding that she acts as Lex's conscience and confidant will allow her to continue acting in that capacity and has to figure out a way to explain it to Lois.

Well it's not like the change happened ages ago.

This is issue #893

As you can see, the assistant looks nothing like Tennant

I wouldn't mind if Tennant were cast as the assistant then in a future movie he becomes Metallo.

In earlier issues, though, Spalding really does look like Tennant. I was actually miffed at the likeness in Cornell's first issue, because I found it distracting.

That may just be a bad angle in issue #893.

Total shout out to Tennant

No Matt Smith assistant for Luthor
