Spoilers The Doctor’s Tardis

Butters

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Anyone with a keener eye than I pick out any clues or details from this new Tardis?

Is it the same console set as we’ve seen before? Twice upon a time? It looked somehow smaller to me. And the CGI exterior. It looked Hartnelly to my eye.

Why it would take the Police Box form before the events that led to it getting stuck in Police Box form is a mystery for now. I really hope it’s not a production error.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next Dr Who mag, that’s for sure.

That was my main concern, unless it got stuck in that scrap yard the same way in an earlier timeline...

You should've put a spoiler tag on this thread for those who haven't seen the new episode.

The interior looked essentially the same but I would have to go back and freeze frame the scene and look back at "Twice Upon a Time," too. The presence of the Chameleon Arch is obviously new.

The fact that the TARDIS appears as a police call box does suggest that it's not actually pre-Hartnell and may instead either be a ruse or from a parallel universe.

It didn’t occur to add a spoiler, I’m usually trying to keep up. I’ve reported to mods so hopefully can add one.

I’m thinking that way too. The Tardis is wrong to be pre Hartnell.

Yeah, the fact that we actually saw the First(?) Doctor and Susan stealing our TARDIS in its default form does seem to put a wrinkle in the most obvious answer from the pieces we have (the TARDIS had already been stuck as a Police Box, the First Doctor and Susan's arrival in the 1960s was staged, they'd had their memories wiped by the Chameleon Arch and were dropped in immediately before "An Unearthly Child" and their histories before that point were fabricated, hiding the existence of the proto-Doctor(s) for reasons unknown).

Still, the exterior seemed to be the First Doctor-style TARDIS from "Twice Upon a Time," and the interior was definitely the classic set they've been useing, though done up with modern lighting effects since they didn't have to worry about matching the '60s look as much.

How do we know it is the same TARDIS? The [not] first doctor could have subconsciously caused the TARDIS he stole to lock into that shape without knowing he did it.

I think they just wanted the shock reveal, which wouldn't happen if it looked like a default grey cylinder. Everything else in the episode suggests she's pre-Hartnell from the days when the Time Lords were doing whatever it was they were doing that was so bad the Master destroyed them for it.

She wanted her friend back, even if he didn't remember her.

Exactly this. The TARDIS knows the truth, whatever shenanigans that caused The Doctor to forget her past didn't work on the TARDIS and so the police box is a reminder of what came before. It gives even more resonance to 'The Doctor's Wife' when the TARDIS says: "I stole YOU." The Jo-Doctor speaks of trying to get away from 'her job' and maybe the TARDIS succeeds where she failed all those years and lives.

I really liked the lighting effects on this new/old/whatever Tardis set. The constantly shifting light made for a very otherworldly look

I presume the console is the one used at various points since 2013, but the set looks new, or part new.
Yup. It's the console An Adventure in Time and Space console.

It looks like they've used the more 1960's accurate "Twice Upon a Time" roundel walls, weirdly not using the door wall as the actual dimensional doors, and a rearrangement of the fault locator area from the same set.

It was dismantled and kept in Vancouver. Parts of it ended up in a Stargate episode back in 2005.
It was only the Rassilon staffs from around the Eye of Harmony that popped up on Stargate.

The Console, barring the center column, still exists and is owned by a collector who restored it and built a new center column for it.

Here's a video of it.

You could almost say that the TARDIS was trying to rescue the Doctor.

Pre-Hartnell? A Doctor before the first Doctor? A Doctor 0? Is that even possible?
