The Distinguished President

At the end of Eddy Murphy's movie The Distinguished Gentleman he says he's going to run for President. Anyone know if they intended to do a sequel?

I always enjoyed that film, considering it one of the most "fun" movies Murphy did in his heyday. I would have liked to have seen a sequel. I thought the potential there was enormous.

I enjoyed it too, and consider it to be Eddie's last "good" movie for adults. The story was pretty damn clever and I could actually see something like that happening.

I don't however, think that a sequel with him running for president wouldn't have worked.. There's no way a character with his background would even get out of the gate in this day and age.. Yes, I realize we're talking about a movie here, but some semblence of reality would have to be kept.

Not to mention the fact that recent history have muted a lot of the comic potential in the premise.
