News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

Greg Weisman teases new Gargoyles...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/comicb...yles-creator-teases-show-return-greg-weisman/

I bring it up here because I imagine Disney plus would be the home of any new episodes, given that the original series has finally been made available again on Disney plus.

Speaking just for myself, this prospect has me just as excited as any Star Wars or Marvel project.

One thing I'm noticing with this service is right now because it's so new, nostalgia is running wild, and people who grew up in the 90s are letting their kids watch these shows and the reaction seems to be positive (Granted, small sample). It almost feels like Disney Plus might actually bring reboots of shows like Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck because people are reacting so positively. Heck, even Cummings tweeted about Darkwing Duck a few nights ago. It feels like The Disney Afternoon just got reborn.

I thought they was already talk about Darkwing Duck being rebooted after the Ducktales reboot took off?

I haven't seen the new Duck Tales yet (I could now) but other than having a Darkwing Cameo in an episode or two, I didn't hear anything about that.

Disney afternoon? It's Disney all day!

Yeah, having nothing to indicate which episodes I've watched of the older shows is going to get to be a real pain in the ass. I foresee a lot of going back to the episode guides on either Wikipedia or one of the franchise specific Wikis to figure out where I left off, especially if I go more than a few days between episodes.

I'm literally just keeping a written note of the episode(s) I left off at, since I already wrote a note to have a physical list of the correct order of some shows episodes anyway. Its a bit annoying, but not that big a deal for me.

All the shows had their second episode drop today.

So it seems like the plan for now is to release all new content on Fridays.

Anybody know why The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series isn't on Disney+? I was really hoping this would be my opportunity to finally finish watching it, but it's not up there. I just realized the Neal Patrick Harris CGI series isn't either.
It's some of the content Disney still has licensed out to mother services and can't get back until those license agreement expire or are mutually terminated (IE Disney and the service in question agree on a termination fee or other way to end said license early).

That, or somebody screwed the pooch/can't rad a Calendar. ;)

I’m really excited for the Lizzie McGuire sequel series AND the Monsters Inc. series!

Also the One Day At Disney documentary.

I don't think it's really a mistake, they show the cropped versions of FXX, so I think those are the default versions now. The FX app does give you the option between the two.
I am glad they'll be adding the option for the original aspect ratio, it drives me crazy when they cut stuff off. I guess I'll wait to watch the earlier episodes after they let you choose.

After a few days of this service? I give the content an A+ and the interface/ experience a D. The Apple TV app is okay and doesn’t seem to have a ton of problems, but if I want to watch stuff in 4K, I have to do it directly on the Samsung TV app. Audio sync is pretty terrible and it has timed out on me With buffering several times while watching the end of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The issue is, however, I can’t pick up where I left off. It starts me back at the beginning. After the third time with ROTS, I gave up and went to the Apple digital file (which I was pleasantly surprised to see was now updated with the return of the Fox logo.)

Not only that but on day one, I started getting emails suggesting that my account had been locked because of unusual activity. How do you know my activity on day one? Besides, my account was never really locked. I received seven emails from Tuesday until yesterday when finally I called the customer service number. I had to leave a message with my email address and my problem. I never got a call back. But it seems I’ve stopped getting the emails.

I imagine these problems will be fixed in time but it is still quite frustrating.

And yes, this is all definitely first world problems. ;)

I know there's been some issues but I really hope we get some sort of viewing history feature soon. It would really help the recommendations and I wouldn't have to scroll so far to get to an episode in the 30s when I really am binging Darkwing in a few weeks or so.

I haven't really had any serious issues so far, the only real problem I ran into is The Mandalorian freezing up on me a few times on Tuesday.

Other than it taking a few hours to log on on the first day, I have had an excellent experience. The interface on the roku app works well. I would love a history option, but, meh, I'm very happy.

The interface will improve over time. I'll take tons of great content with a meh interface over a slick interface with not much content every time. Though some of the things missing (like any indication of which episodes in a show have already been viewed) seem like pretty obvious things that should have been there from the start.
