The Deadly Assassin and the 13th Doctor

It's entirely possible that the 12 generation limit was imposd by the timelords. No Timelords, not limit.

If it's biological, I can see them coming up with any number of means to get around it. From the Eye of Harmony to having one of his clones return and merge with a dying doctor and trip off another cycle.

It's less a question of limits, and more a question of if and how they want to end the series.

My guess is when they get that far they wont address the issue at all, or at most after the Doctor regenerates and notices he's still alive he'll say something like "That shouldn't of happened, I was out of regenerations".

Nah, I think they'll play up the dramatic opportunity that it provides.

Since 13 would be the same person as 10, why can't he act the same? It's not written in stone that each incarnation has to have a different personality.

Besides, that dialogue could just as easily have been spoken by 4.

I refer you all to my previous answer, in some previous thread: when the Doctor did whatever-he-did that ended the Time War, it unleashed the energy of the Eye of Harmony in such a way as to a) cause his eighth rgeneration, and b) 'recharge' him regeneration-wise. But he doesn't know about the second bit.
The 13th Doctor will think he's on his last one, then regenerate and realize why, leaving him feeling a bit guilty that he's got a new lease of life by wiping out his own race.
Works as a plot device, and dramatically, unless they've moved so far on that they've forgotten the Time War by that point.

I thought the eye of harmony would have been destroyed because it was linked to Gallifrey. I thought it was the power source of every Tardis.

I'm trying to think if there were any points where they were apart, aside from him sneaking off when he took her home. Though it could be stretched to say they went a few together and she was kept out of the Titanic photo etc. They won't have just been where we have seen them, though a lot of the time the stories were connected...

The one time that has been focused on many times, in many places, was at the end of Rose.
There could have been months or even years (in The Doctor's timeline) between when he dematerializes near the end of Rose, and then comes back to say "Did I mention it also travels in time?".

Here's an extraordinary coincidence. I was watching a docu feature on one of the DrW DVDs I got (Talons Wein Chiang I believe) and it actually had the relevant Morbius scene in its entirety!

I think you could go either way, whether those faces were the Doctor's or Morbius'. It could have just been that it went 4-3-2-1 then onto Morbius' faces. And the other funny thing is it showed 4-3 then cut away to their faces then cut back and redid 4-3 then 2-1.

I don't remember if it was "Deadly Assassin" or "Invasion of Time" but there was one bit where two Time Lords were chatting with each other and they very casually talked about oh I see you've regenerated yes I thought it was time for a change do you like it?

If every regeneration is one step closer to death, isn't it a little odd that they treat it so casually like getting a face lift?
