THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL

The Day the Earth Stood Still is 20th Century Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu Reeves portrays Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission - and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth". - MovieWeb.com

My 16 yo son wants to see it in IMAX and actually likes Keannu Reeves.

.... grumble ...

Actually I liked KR in the Matrix trilogy, and the movie is a classic, so it'll be interesting to see the remake.

I'm going to catch this in IMAX. When I looked over the free screeners at the site I get so many passes for I was dissapointed that Nashville wasn't getting a screener!

I thought the trailers have looked great, but the fact there haven't been any reviews yet is definitely not a good sign... :(

Is it too much to ask for decent sci-fi?

I know what you mean. I'm tired of seeing so many great story ideas being wasted on crappy directors who don't have a clue what they're doing.

The annoying thing is if this movie sucks, people will just blame it on the fact it's a remake. When likely it was just poorly executed by the director and nothing more.

Maybe you meant "screenings". Screeners are ... something else! ;)

I'll be seeing it with friends on Saturday hopefully...if not this weekend then next weekend. It seems like Sci-Fi Fluff but oh well. I'm a big Jen Connelly fan so I'm seeing it mostly because of her.
