The Dax Project, or, Cast The Previous Hosts Of Dax

Granted. However, the actor in "Field" was a dang good actor, I say. Better either to keep him, or get a good (younger?) resembler of him.

(OTOH...its possible that he was just a creepy, "older" image that was linked to Ezri's psyche somehow....)
 
^Or, since the memory of Joran was suppressed/removed maybe his image was constructed in different ways by Jadzia and Ezri because the suppression wasn't completely undone. Which would explain the casting change. If any of you have watched Farscape, you'll know that Wayne Pygram plays a character with an often calm demeanor thinly veiling unspeakable demons very well, which is why I think he could play Joran.

I really like Tudyk as Curzon, he could really pull off the attitude.

I said Zachary Levi earlier, but what do you guys think of Benedict Cumberbatch as Torias Dax? If you don't know, he plays Sherlock Holmes in BBC's Sherlock. Torias was the host embodied by Julian Bashir who took a very cavalier view of life and was killed in a shuttle accident.

And this has got me thinking, what will the next Dax be like? Kind of off topic, I think I'll start a new thread for that... :)

^Oh, sure, but she's not gonna live forever...not that I'm in a rush to get rid of her or anything. :) I just enjoy looking to the future.

Lela: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tamara Taylor, Christine Rose (depending on what age you're going for)

Tobin: Jesse Plemons, John Francis Daley

Emony: Ellen Wong, Amy Jo Johnson

Audrid: Connie Britton, Emma Thompson

Torias: David Tennant, Chris Evans

Joran: Willem Defoe, Robert Patrick

Curzon: Robert Downey, Jr., Paul Gross.


I'm not sold on Alan Tudyk for some reason, sorry. I was really, really, really tempted to put Zach Quinto down for Joran and Simon Pegg for Tobin, but I figure they're taken already in the Trekverse...
 
Everybody seems to be forgetting that Joran died quite young, so none of all those 50-something and 40-something actors would work - unless you mean "in their youth" (since it is hypothetical casting, after all).

I will say Robert Patrick looks and sounds rather like a young(er) version of Leigh J. McCloskey (Joran in "Field...)--and also fits the roundish face of the magician in "Equilibrium"....

Yeah, I was thinking Liquid Metal Joran more than present day. And I have no idea how Willem Defoe looked twenty years ago, but... he's Willem Defoe!

doesn't jadzia count as previous? dax is now ezri.

anyhow my altercast jadzia is Judy Dench.
 
An elderly Jadzia, with a regal-with-wit air? Hmm....

But, sorry. Jadzia was full-fledged and established. Again...you'd best start your own thread to that effect. ;)
 
No, I think Judi Dench would make an excellent Lela Dax...or maybe an older Ezri? Nah. Lela, definitely.
I love Judi Dench. Judi Dench would be awesome no matter what Trek character she played. But I digress...
No, I think Terry Farrell was an excellent Jadzia. No reason to recast, there's already a 'Name the New Cast' thread.

Hmm...it would be interesting. Nana Visitor (as "occupied" Kira) played Lela as a cheery, somewhat "folksy" type...but still, we could say she was just being a warm "grandmother" for this "child", Jadzia. I think I could see Dame Judi Dench. She could easily play her after years of experience, driving herself and other government officials relentlessly.
 
Getting back to Curzon and Emony, all this talk of tall beautiful women forgets that Emony was an accomplished gymnast, and needs to be short and athletic to fulfill that, and they made a point to emphasize Curzon's nose -- not Rene's nose, Curzon's nose -- and any actor that you would cast either needs his own equivalent nose, or would be someone you want to see have a makeup appliance nose to look right. Thus, I reiterate Adrien Brody for Curzon, and, oh, I don't know, Sarah Michelle Gellar for Emony.
