Kinda like the "starving kids in Africa" defense. It's not THAT bad, so why complain about anything?
And then we get 20 Trekker rants about utterly innane nonsense that's even less offensive than whatever these drivers were supposed to be doing.![]()
Yeah, it's so funny the way you enjoy so much pissing all over me.
I dunno, I can see where he is coming from. Hell, the other day I was going 15-over in the far-left lane on a crowded highway and someone passed me ON THE SHOULDER! Actually he had to pass a couple of other cars before getting back on the highway-proper. Plenty of things you see drivers do everyday can be aggravating.
Yes, and those threads always go swimmingly, don't they? What's that thing they say about doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result?Small, petty, venting can be "helpful" in many ways, heck we've seen Flux rant here a few times about bad co-workers and customers.
I'm honestly surprised you don't have one already. That is exactly something I would expect you to do.Hell, I've thought about getting a dash-cam and posting pictures/videos of people that piss me off in traffic.
Thank god you were here to explain to me what he was doing, because I couldn't figure it out from watching the videos an hour ago. He's posting videos of drivers that tick him off and commenting about them, I think he's in the clear when it comes to reacting to minor annoyances. Now, if he took their plate number, used civic resources to find the name of the driver of that car and then plastered their name, plate number and make/model of their car with the video. Then he'd go to far. As it is now, he posting videos of dumb people. That's quite the low bar for behavior you've set there, Trekker. "Hey, as long as you're not some crazed sniper firing from a tower, anything goes." Jesus Christ, man.
Seems like a pretty benign thing. If he has the time/resources to do this what's the harm. It's a venting procedure that works for him.
Like the countless numbers of people who don't know how to make a left-turn on a solid green/flashing yellow, merge onto the highway, or how to not run a red light.
Or people that don't know not to drive when they've been told by a doctor they aren't allowed to drive because they had a seizure. Things like that?
Whatever stupid shit you want to post that other people did, I'm sure you can find someone that can justify what they did in their own mind.
For all we know, the guy that passed you in the shoulder (which is stupid, agree) had a pregnant wife about to give birth in the passenger seat and was wondering why the hell you wouldn't get over...
Not usually a good defense anyway when you admit to breaking the law, and then want to bitch about someone else that was doing it slightly worse than you. What fire were you responding to that had you doing 15 over the speed limit? Why's 15 over perfectly fine, but 20 over and passing you in (hopefully) a safe but stupid manner should get them shamed? And the guy what was doing the speed limit, or 5 over even, was pissed at you that he had to move out of the left lane because you were in such a hurry for some reason...
Hitler! Hitler! Nazis! Hitler!
doesn't that end all internet arguements?
Yes, I agree, posting these videos to YouTube is better than becoming a clocktower sniper or getting in a road rage fight. There are any number of felonies and misdemeanors we can list that posting videos to YouTube is better than. I'm not sure really how that's much of a point, though, since my disagreements with Flux on this aside, I don't think there's much danger of him doing either of those things. Whereas he is actually doing the YouTube thing, which is why we're talking about that.Actually i think the dashcam idea is better as a way to vent than to have a road rage punchup and get arrested.
i've not watched the videos but if the car plates are readable to be able to trace the driver/owner isnt there some law about filming someone without thier permisson?.
that's why most business's have signs saying they have cameras up .
If you want to argue that, not supposed to go 15 over, either. Just because the guy in front of you is ALSO breaking the law doesn't make it legal. You could have moved over a lane and done the speed limit. Enjoy your imaginary distinction between YOUR violation being totally cool and his being horrific, though.
I agree that his is worse, but both are bad, no moral high ground to claim there. Maybe there was an emergency? Or maybe he's just an asshole, no way to know.
This.and now i've started petty arguing :/ i'm beginning to suspect this subject is too boring to actually talk about
Funny how everything you do is great and everybody you know loves it... except people in here, who mostly think they are terrible ideas. Or, as Locutus mentioned:I started posting these on Facebook and the were a big hit with friends and family.
Yes, and those threads always go swimmingly, don't they? What's that thing they say about doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result?heck we've seen Flux rant here a few times about bad co-workers and customers.
So the general idea I'm geting from the feedback is...it's okay to post these videos as long as they're A. funny or B. someone is doing something illegal? Otherwise it's just petty and mean? I can understand that, but just about every one of those videos (with the exception of the chick who couldn't close up ranks and let me in the turn lane) featured someone doing something illegal. In the Honda Fit video and the Star Trek music clip...each f those cars was either getting on or already traveling on the freeway at 40 MPH or below. I'm pretty sure driving that slow on the freeway is considered illegal as it impedes the flow of traffic.
I usually try to only post clips where people are doing something dangerous, illegal or just plain assholish and not just someone making a simple mistake. It isn't done vindictively or to shame the person...like I said, it's for entertainment. I started posting these on Facebook and the were a big hit with friends and family. I guess for general consumption I'll have to kick it up a notch and be more choosy over what I post as far as the severity of the incident goes.
Also, I've never understood why people worry about their license plate being seen in video or pictures. It's right there for everyone and anyone to see on the road, but when it's posted online all of a sudden it's some secret code that must be hidden. I don't get it.
Cut to the chase people: does anything happen in any of these? Because you're up after THE HEAVENS EXPLODING AND CRASHING UNTO THE FIRMAMENT, and that's a tough act to follow.
