So it appears that Comedy Central have picked up the rights for The Daily Show in the UK.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is to air on Comedy Central UK after the broadcaster acquired the exclusive rights.

The satirical show, which has been awarded nine consecutive Emmy’s, will help UK viewers stay abreast of the US Presidential election as the race heats up.
The series has run on Comedy Central in the US since 1996, comprising more than 2,200 episodes.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was dropped by More4 in 2010 in favour of the weekly The Daily Show Global Edition.
Comedy Central’s director of programming Chris Collie said: “Our launch timing is perfect as The Daily Show will be the UK’s destination to find out the latest news and the satirical take on the presidential election.”
It will air on Comedy Central Extra during the week from 23 July at 10.30pm - just a day after its US broadcast.

Considering on 8 out of 10 cats last week they called the Queen an old tax dodging bitch I don't think being "pretty hard" on her will be too much trouble.

Do that many people outside the U.S. even care about US politics?

In my experience visiting other countries: yes. The U.S. has a lot of influence over the rest of the world, and other countries pay us a lot of attention as a result.

Well, our politicians are an endless source of ridiculous hypocrisy, so I guess it would be funny to some.

It should also be noted that U.S. citizens are unusual in their tendency to ignore other countries. We're abnormally egocentric in that respect.

Are Brits aware of the right-wing pundits that Colbert satirizes? I would think that more obscure than Stewart though I'm sure his routine's broad enough that one could "get it" regardless.

We get Fox News on Sky.

That genuinely surprises me! Though I guess with Murdoch and all...

Yeah, I think at one point he was wanting Sky News to be Fox News for the UK, but the law here prevents that level of bias so they started broadcasting Fox News instead. We get CNN International and CNBC, too, though. I believe CNBC and Fox News are just the US feed, may have some shows time shifted.

Yup.

Mexico elected a new President this week, but one could be forgiven for watching hours upon hours of news without noticing. Yeesh.
