Trek ship registry numbers are nothing more than license plate numbers.

What kind of license plate numbers?

Especially in continental Europe license numbers do have a system (e.g. French license plates used the zip code of the home town like "75" for Paris, in Germany the first letters of the license plate indicate the vehicle's home town et cetera).
