Spoilers The Cloverfield Paradox

They should make a Rom-Com, throw the monster on a newscast in the background, and call it First Date in Cloverfield.
I had that idea for a movie years ago! Two people meet for an internet first date, aliens attack, they decide to stick together for the first few hours of the commotion, and rapidly fall in love as society crumbles. :p

I liked this movie, although it did remind me of "Aliens" at times even though there was no alien in it. I liked the concept and I liked how it answered the question from the first one.

So from eagerly anticipated, to released to yesterday's news in three days.

Is this a glimpse into the future for everything that's not a superhero or Star Wars movie?

It's a solid 6/10 movie. Felt like more of a Syfy pilot. There's plenty of original sf&f films over the past 12 months that have been highly praised that are far superior. Blade Runner 2049, Shape of Water, Okja, Collosal, etc. And it's pretty mediocre compared to 10 Cloverfield Lane.

On one hand, by connecting it to Cloverfield, it's being compared to 10 Cloverfield Lane (and I'm guilty of this too), which it doesn't come close to being as good as. On the other, if I just saw the trailer and it didn't have the Cloverfield connection... I wouldn't have watched as soon as I did, it would have been more of a "nothing else is going on, might as well check this sci-fi movie out" sort of things.

I'm glad I watched and enjoyed it for the most part. But the Cloverfield connection is definitely a double edged sword.

10 Cloverfield Lane was always meant to be a semi sequel to Cloverfield. Paradox on the other hand was a separate movie, The God Particle, that no one seemed to want.
