Spoilers The Clone Wars - Season 7 Discussion [SPOILERS]

This episode was excellent. The animation definitely went up a notch and the feature film vibe was cool. The story moved along quicker than I thought it would too. I loved the exchange between Ahsoka and Obi-Wan.

This was a great episode. One thing that really impressed me was that it really gave both great action and great character work. With most other shows you get episodes focused on action and other episodes focused on character work, but it's rare to see one episode that manages to combine the two, and do a great job at both.
The whole big Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka reunion and the attack on Mandalore's capital were the highlights.

It'd also explain how Ahsoka survived order 66...Rex had that chip removed. He would have let Ahsoka live...

A what if question. What would have happened if Skywalker and Kenobi had decided to go with Tano to Mandalore instead if Coruscant? I mean, Dooku's not going to kill his master, even if Grievous doesn't know the truth about Palpatine. The battle over Coruscant might take longer, but I image some other Jedi would come to free Palpatine eventually.

I continue being impressed with the visuals this season. Even if the Martez Sisters arc may have been a bit unengaging, I still greatly enjoyed the audiovisual aspect of it.

I wish Disney/LFL would continue doing this type of thing beyond TCW.

Dooku would let Palpatine go and they would plan something else.

What a great episode! From the painful reunion to the beautiful fight of Ahsoka in the gunship, she has great moves.

On the Kenobi Maul fight. I loved the way Kenobi moves, almost making the mistakes from EP1 to his end stand before clashing with Maul

Actually I think Plan-B for that gambit would have been to keep up the kidnapping shtick, make moves like they're holding Palpatine for ransom and just wait for Anakin to finish what he's doing and come running to the rescue. In short, it wouldn't stop the plan, just delay it.

Failing that, Plan-C would probably be to have the Separatist Alliance "win" the war and become the Empire by just triggering Order 66, leaving the clones temporarily leaderless while the droid forces overwhelm them with sheer numbers before the non-Jedi Generals could organise a cohesive defence. Dooku then gets to be Emperor while Sidious remains the power behind the throne. Maybe kill off the Palpatine persona, maybe just have the official story be that he's been put under "house arrest" in the new Imperial Palace.
Indeed, something very much like that is probably what he told Dooku "Plan-A" was to begin with, (and that the whole thing with recruiting Skywalker was to place him as Grand Inquisitor, else, why would Dooku go along with the multiple "tests" of Anakin over the years.)

^Yeah, I've been avoiding watching those previews ever since the non-Bad Batch episodes started to drop. There's only so much Clone Wars left and I'd like as much of it to be a surprise as possible! ;)

Just finished Part II. This has really been good! The fight scene was awesome (if not a little "fanboi KEWL!!!11one!1!!!") And now that they've more or less wrapped up Maul and have started to actually put an end to the Siege, I kinda wonder where they're going to take the next two episodes. (Weird, I thought this season was 13 episodes, but looking at Wikipedia, I guess I'm wrong.) I'm guessing based on where we see Obi-Wan in relation to Revenge of the Sith, the next episode will be fairly quiet but will end with Order 66.

Yeah, my guess is that Order 66 happens right at the end of the next episode.

I got more into the breakdown of events in this post from last year, but for clarity; the bulk of RotS the takes place over the course of at least 5 days; that is from opening battle to the birth of the twins (I can't really account for Kenobi's trek out to the Lars homestead since that could have taken anything from a day to a week depending on where Bail dropped him off, see also: the funeral arrangements for Padme and however long it took for Palpatine & Tarkin to bring Vader out to see the Death Star over Geonosis.)
Since much of the narrative plays out on Coruscant you can chart the passage of local time based on where the daytime and nighttime scenes fall; and over the course of the movie there's four distinct nighttimes & five daytimes.

The scene where Anakin is assigned to spy on Palpatine was at dusk on day 2 (with the opera scene being that night), which means Ahsoka & Bo Katan's conversation with Kenobi is on the morning of day 3, after that between the council meeting where he's assigned the Utapau mission and saying his farewell to Anakin. Maybe right before he visits Padme since he wasn't able to get Ahsoka to speak to him, he went with the next logical choice (we don't see the meeting, but she says later on "Obi-Wan came by this morning".)
Order 66 happens at night on day 3 or 4 (it depends on how much time passes between Obi's departure and Cody's reporting to the council that they've engaged Grevious.) but given the pace of the show so far, I'd say it'll be sooner rather than later.

So, Maul's capture most likely happens concurrently with the events on Utapau. Given how quickly things move once Grevious is slain, I'd say Kenobi has either just arrived, or just started the fight. Anakin is at the temple with Mace and Yoda & Luminara are on Kashyykk.

I'll have to re-watch the episode to check, but I couldn't be surprised if the clue to the synchronicity is in the score. The previous episode's score after all quoted a portion of the opening score from the battle over Coruscant during the landing sequence on Mandalore, indicating that both engagements were concurrent.
I though I heard a bit of the "opera house" score in the Ahsoka/Maul face-off in the throne room, but didn't want to pause the episode to check, so I'm not sure. That shouldn't line up anyway since the Opera scene should already have happened earlier in the episode, between the fight in the undercity and the citizen's being escorted to shelters.

This series is qualitywise so much better than the sequel films. I hope Ahsoka Tano makes the transition from animation to live action. She is a character that absolutely could carry her own films or a series.

ETA - Fun trivia: while it's been known for a while Ray Park provided the performance capture for Maul's fight, from the credits it looks like Ahsoka's half of the fight was done by Lauren Mary Kim. Among her many credits as a stunt performer is 'The Mandalorian', where she doubled for both Omera and The Armourer. That may be a coincidence, or it may be more evidence live action Ahsoka may be showing up in season 2.

One credit that jumped out at me was as the double for Elektra in the Marvel Netflix shows (another duel wielder like Ahsoka!)
That is still not confirmed by Disney, Lucasfilm or by Rosario Dawson herself.
All true. However circumstantial evidence in favour of such being the case is rather strong.
