The City of Lost Children (1995).

Excellent surreal and very dark French-German-Spanish fantasy in the Terry Gilliam style about this weird place where an old scientist wants the dreams of children as he becomes a real boogieman as a strong-man played by Ron Perlman and a young girl must stop his madness.

Highly recommend to anyone who liked "The Fifth Element" (Same designers who also did Fifth Element), "Brazil", "The Dark Crystal" and "Dark City".

I really like Jean-Pierre Jeunet. But, I think this is his weakest film. I would honestly rather watch Alien: Resurrection than have to sit through this again. There are some good parts, but it's mostly average. Amelie and A Very Long Engagement, on the other hand - brilliant films.

I love Jeunet's work, and enjoyed this film. But I have a soft spot for wonderfully bizarre production design, and movies that feature both Ron Perlman and Dominique Pinon.

I love City of Lost Children. I bought a tape of it based off the trailer alone and I do not regret it one bit.

I think I like CoLC a bit better than Delicatessen, though I'd have to see Delicatessen again to make a good comparison. I've only seen it once, whereas I think I've seen CoLC ~three times (one time it was the awful dubbed version....the videotape clearly said "subtitled", but it was dubbed instead).
