The Christmas Countdown Thread!

Managed to get all but one or two strands of the old lights working and put up in the front yard. Now all that's left is replacing some lights in a reindeer (am so tempted to change the lights in the nose to red) and see about finding a tree topper and some lighted garland for around the door and the front window.

We've finished our shopping for the kids apart from a few things for their stockings. I love filling their stockings and have a lot of fun with them. I'm still waiting for one item to show up from Amazon--TAS DVDs--to show up and my shopping for my husband is done. The two of us usually buy each other things we'd both enjoy, so there's no malicious alterior motive going on. Really.

I didn't put any of my Trek ornaments up this year; trying to change it up a bit. We do, however, have the Trek Wreath on the door, that I made ages and ages ago. I was single, had a lot of cheap collectibles and glue gun; this was the result:

Not a great picture; you can't really see the blue stars on the wreath very well, but it's more than a few years old now.

Surprisingly enough, hubby won't let me replace it. He really likes it.

I went out shopping today, which wasn't in my original plan of avoiding the town centre over the weekend. My daughter was going to meet a friend in town but the friend had to cancel. Since I knew my daughter needed to do gift shopping for her friends (her last day of school is Friday) I offered to go with her. She had saved some money but I don't mind buying small gifts for her close friends. In fact, when she saw how much we'd spent on these gifts she said, "I'm glad I'm not that popular!" I need to be back in town tomorrow morning for a dentist appointment anyway, so plan to completely finish my shopping then.

My crazy-ass sister in law wants a hand-mixer, but says she'll refuse anything that's made in China.

I have found about 8 different types of hand-held mixers in nearby stores, and they're ALL made in China.

I guess she's getting another gift card, the cow. Everything she owns is made in China but suddenly she can't have something made in China. Whatever.

Things like that aren't made anywhere but China any more!

Although, for exclusively political reasons Taiwan is included in the 'China' things are made in and a lot of stuff comes from there...

^she's a real nut job. I don't know how I'm going to get through Christmas with her in my house the whole day. I truly, TRULY can't stand the witch. But I will do my best to suck it up.

I have a sis who's a nut too, she won't have anything to do with our parents; I think the guy she works for -and started dating while still married to someone else- isn't actually running a consultancy firm but is the head of some secret sect

Oh well, it'll be only me and the parents for x-mas then...
